Theme and game basics

Vikings Go Wild is Yggdrasil Gaming’s first Viking-themed slot and, indeed, the first of a trilogy. At the time it may not have been their intention to add two more slots to the series, but Vikings Go Wild proved so popular that it was a natural step to take. The game has a reasonably realistic look, meaning it doesn’t have the same animated or comic look some of Yggdrasil’s earlier slots have. At the same time, it is also a lot less refined that Yggdrasil’s later slots. Still, it’s visually well done and gives us some nice animations.
On the reels you’ll find four Vikings, two hardened warriors, a Viking maiden and the wise old Viking. They all kind of stare off into the distance in a similar manner, which is slightly boring. But once they fight the sea monster, things get a little more interesting. In any case, the four Vikings are our high paying symbols in this slot, offering up between 175 coins (the maiden) and 250 coins (the brown-haired Viking) for 5-of-a-kind wins. The remaining, low-value, symbols are coins in gold, silver, bronze or of the green variety. The shield comes with a Wild value and the Viking ship is the scatter, triggering the free spins when you get at least three of it on the reels.

Gameplay and features

Depending on whether you get 3, 4 or 5 free spin symbols, you will get 8, 16 or 24 free spins to play. Once that happens, all Wild symbols that land on the reels during the feature, will become sticky and remain locked in place. Also, whenever Vikings land on the reels, they will all battle the sea monster. If they are victorious, they will also become sticky wilds and remain on the reels.
