Meet the Meerkats comes with an unusual theme. You get a family of domesticated meerkats in this game, where Papa and Mama Meerkat feature, as well as nerdy Daughter Meerkat and the cheeky Meerkat Quadruplet. The boys who also serve as the wild symbol. Whilst equipped with lovely graphic details and a nicely drawn background, the symbols aside from the Meerkat family are somewhat boring. You mostly get the A to 10 playing card symbols as well as an old-fashioned TV set and a rotary phone. Thankfully the cute Meerkat family inhabits the reels as well. And they all come full stacked, though they don’t always land in a full stack on the 5×4 reels.

The main feature in the base game is the Hold and Respin bonus. Whenever one of the Meerkats lands fully stacked on reel 1, it will be held in place along with any other matching symbols (partial or fully stacked) and wilds that may be on the reels. You then get one free re-spin and any further matching Meerkats, or wild symbols will be held in place as well. This continues until either the reels are full, or no further matching Meerkats or wilds appear. Then you get a payout and it can be quite nice.
