Theme and basic information

Bloopers are what you call the mistakes made during filming of a TV show or movie. The bloopers end up in the outtakes and can be really funny. Just check out YouTube for bloopers of your favourite show or movie. You’ll get a kick out of it, we promise.

Here it is the title of a movie themed slot. More specifically, a movie award, it would seem. We have to overly cheesy movie stars who walk the red carpet, playing card symbols that look like awards themselves and an orchestral background soundtrack like you get in many award shows.

Whilst it looks good, it’s not as original or sophisticated as some other ELK Studios’ games and the playing card symbols are rather boring. What we do like are the creatures that give the slot its title: the crew Bloopers. They look just a little bit like the Minions, though they seem to be rather more skilled at what they’re doing.

The Bloopers of the game are responsible for make-up, cutting, lighting and stunts or simply fixing things. They’re quite cute and adorable when they stroll across the reels, going about their business.

The movie star is the most valuable symbol here, paying out 600 coins for a win of 5 on a payline. His female pendant pays out 400 coins for such a win. The scene board is worth 240 coins for 5 of a kind and the reel still pays out 160 coins.

Watch out for random wilds

According to the game instructions, the five Blooper show up randomly throughout the game. But during the base game, we kind of only ever saw the yellow sound check guy. He will add wilds randomly to the reels and give us a free re-spin.

That’s just about it for the base game. The feature doesn’t hit often, but we’ve experienced massive wins with nearly three reels full of wilds and that’s more than worth it.

Free spins with Bloopers adding their features

The free spins are triggered with the star symbol landing on reels 1, 2, 3 and so forth, consecutively. You need at least three of them and usually one will have one of the Bloopers attached, who then becomes the main feature. But the other Bloopers can also show up on the reels and you can get more than one feature simultaneously.

Here’s what the individual Bloopers do:

• Cutter – He trigger on the J and will cut the reels like a movie reel so that symbols fall away and are replaced by other symbols from above, hopefully creating a win.
• Fix-it – Shows up when a K lands on the reels and will use the reel improvement gun, shuffling symbols on the reels around to move them into more beneficial positions.
• Make-up – The pink Blooper girl shows up on a Q and removes a sticky wild movie star symbol, thereby actually extending the duration of the free spins.
• Stunt Man – Appears randomly throughout the free spins to expand wild symbols on all five reels.

In addition to that, the male and female movie stars land as sticky wilds on the three middle reels where they stay for the duration of the spins. The game only ends once all three middle reels are covered in sticky wilds.

Conclusion: Cute and quirky slot that still doesn’t hold our attention

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Bloopers is 96.10%, which is an average but decent value. The game comes with medium variance, meaning you’ll win often enough, but not always big. Sometimes, though, wins can be impressive, especially with a bunch of extra wilds.

We found Bloopers charming enough, but the game can feel slow when no feature hits. Thanks to some impressive win, we stayed with it for a while. But ultimately, Bloopers didn’t really captivate us. ELK Studios has made a lot more interesting and fun slots than this one. The features are original enough, but they simply don’t come around often enough to stick with this game.
