Lost Vegas Slot Review

Lost Vegas is a video slot from Microgaming with 5 reels and 243 ways to win. That means any three matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right will yield a win. You may be able to play Lost Vegas at online casinos such as YoYo Casino, LV Bet or Dunder Casino.

Theme and game basics

Lost Vegas takes up the zombie theme, which is very popular at the moment and has been for years. Just look at all the TV shows featuring zombies. Lost Vegas doesn’t take the theme too seriously and is thankfully not overly gruesome or gory in its imagery. Plus, you get to choose whether you want to play as a survivor, where you find a slightly brighter outlook and a bunch of heroic survivors on the reels. Or you play in zombie mode, where you’ll find the lost souls of Las Vegas on the reels with green skin and rotting flesh.
The various characters, survivors and zombies, are the higher value symbols in this slot. They pay between 4x and 8x your stake, which is obviously not a lot, but not surprising considering that this slot wins 243 ways, which makes it more likely to win more often. Also, the scatter will win you 50x your stake if you get five of them on the reels. And five wilds will still reel in 10x your stake. Beyond that you’ll also get the low paying playing card symbols you typically find in Microgaming slots.
Microgaming has done a great job essentially incorporating two slots into one with the two different game modes. Whilst you can pick your modus upon starting the game for the first time, you can easily switch between Zombie and Survivor modus in the middle of playing.

Gameplay and features

And we definitely recommend that you try out both versions of the game. No matter which mode you play, two random features are available throughout. The Blackout Bonus can show up after any non-winning spin in the base game. The high value symbols on the reels at the time will then be highlighted and reveal random cash prizes. That can give you a decent boost.
Then there’s the zombie fist, which randomly bursts through the reels and holds a wad of cash. Again, the prize awarded is totally random. Whilst the zombie fist can appear in both game modes, we found it to appear more often in the zombie mode.
Each of the game modes comes with its own free spin feature. You’ll need three scatters to trigger either feature:
Survivor free spins – All the low-value symbols from 10 to A will vanish off the reels as long as they come to a standstill on the reels. You’ll be shown how many of them remain on the reels, giving you an indication how many more spins you may have ahead of you. All the symbols will carry cash prizes and will be added to a stash of survivor funds. In the meantime, all high value symbols will keep spinning on the reels and are now out in full force, giving you a better chance at bigger wins. Plus, once the low value symbols have vanished after a spin, the empty spaces are filled up with more symbols falling in from above and another winning combination.
Zombie free spins – Zombies will show up stacked on the reels and every time they land fully stacked on any reel, they will ‘infect’ the reel. Each infected reel has the added benefit of increasing your wilds, but once all reels have been infected, the feature will end. Unless you manage to stay healthy until you’ve played 50 spins, which is the maximum number of spins awarded here.
Perhaps we were only luckier with the Survivor free spins than with the Zombie spins, but we found them to be more rewarded. It’s somewhat frustrating to have five infected reels after only 7 spins.

Conclusion

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Lost Vegas is 95%, which is surprisingly low for just about any slot these days. Still, we barely felt like losers at all when playing this game. The Blackout bonus and the Zombie fist kept appearing to give us a little extra. And triggering the free spins wasn’t too difficult either. Usually we managed to do so within 100 to 150 spins. We did find the Zombie spins to be disappointing, however. Though we may just have been unlucky.
Lost Vegas is actually a great game to play and we enjoyed playing in both game modes. You won’t get bored anytime soon and things keep being interesting. If zombies are your thing, you might want to take this one for a spin.
