Theme and basic information

You will very quickly notice, that this Christmas themed slot is actually just the Christmas version of Pragmatic Play’s slot Leprechaun Song. They changed ‘Song’ to ‘Carol’, gave the whole thing a wintry and Christmassy look and left it at that. Almost. But more on the subtle differences later.

The soundtrack is also much more in tune with Christmas, which it obviously has to be.

Once again, we find a cheerful Leprechaun on the slots, this time with a Christmas hat instead of a top hat. And here’s one of the main differences to the original Leprechaun Song slot: this one pays out bigger win. The red top hat pays out 20x your stake for such a winning combination and the pipe still gives us 12.5x our stake, with the Guinness paying 10x our stake for such a win.

So, whilst we get snow falling, Christmas jingles and decorations in this slot, all the bonus features are very familiar.

• Raining Wilds – 3 to 4 rainbow wilds can be added to the reels on any given spin, more are possible.

Conclusion: Leprechaun Song goes Christmas and does it well

The theoretic RTP (Return to Player) for Leprechaun Carol is 96.53%, which not just great value but ever so slightly better than Leprechaun Song. And whilst that is great, we do have to say that this is definitely the much more volatile slot. Where we kept feeling like winners when playing Leprechaun Song, getting those random bonus features in the base game frequently, we can’t say the same about Leprechaun Carol. Higher wins, better RTP but much more volatile. That means, you’ll be waiting for a while for those bigger wins, which ends up eating into your budget.

So, we don’t know if you’re going to love this game when you already love Leprechaun Song. It just doesn’t feel as generous. Or you simply need more patience and trust that higher volatility can pay out. But if you like Christmas themed slots with an Irish twist and don’t mind budgeting a bit, you may very well love Leprechaun Carol.
