Theme and general information

Nobody does classic slots quite like Play’n GO. When they give us a classic slot it’s never old-fashioned and certainly never boring. This is true for Chronos Joker as well. Play’n GO knows how to do stunning slots, of course. They also know how to do timeless and beautiful.

Chronos Joker does the latter extremely well. The reels are set on the backdrop of a view of stars, nebulae and galaxies far, far away. It’s very cool. The frame of the reels is golden, and Art Deco inspired. The same could be said of the symbols on the reels. The low-value fruit look like decorative elements. Not spectacular, but still well-crafted. The high-value symbols are the Chronos Joker (as the wild) himself and four different time pieces.

The holographic wristwatch is worth 4x our stake for 3 on a payline. The pocket watch pays out 3x our stake for such a win. Then there is the sand clock that pays 2x our stake for 3 of its kind and the sundial is worth 1.40x our stake for such a win. The Chronos Joker pays out 16x our stake if we get him 3 time on a payline.

By the way, the soundtrack is also quite futuristic and fits the slot very well. Once in a while a clock is ticking, which is a nice touch here.

Re-spins and multipliers that travel through time

In this slot, symbols often land stacked on the reels. If two reels are stacked with the same symbol, a re-spin of the third reel is granted to give us a chance at creating a winning combination.

Also pay attention to the multiplier atop the reels. On any spin, one of the multipliers (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x) can become active and will be applied to any win that is created on this spin. If we get a re-spin with an active multiplier, we will keep getting re-spins until a win is created. Then the multiplier is applied, of course.

Without an active multiplier, we only get one re-spin.

Either way, we don’t just get regular re-spins here. Depending on which multiplier happens to be active, there are six different options for re-spin features to be triggered. Three options for the regular multipliers and three super spins multiplier features.

• The Spins of the Past – Triggers when the multiplier is 10x. One each spin, the multiplier decreases to the next lowest option, stopping only when it reached the 2x multiplier.
• The Spins of the Present – Triggers on the 3x, 4x and 5x multiplier and stays there for each re-spin that follows until a win is created.
• The Spins of the Future – Triggers on the 2x multiplier and increases on each spin until we either reach 10x or a win is created beforehand. We keep getting re-spins until a win is created.

On any spin, the multipliers atop the reels may randomly double, giving us the option of 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x and 20x multipliers.

If we now get re-spins, they follow the same patterns as outlined above.

• Super Spins of the Past – Triggers at 20x and moves backwards until we get a win. Lowest possible multiplier will be 4x.
• Super Spins of the Present – Triggers on 6x, 8x or 10x and remains there for each re-spin until we get a win.
• Super Spins of the Future – Triggers at 4x and moves onto the next multiplier with each re-spin as long as no win is created. Maximum multiplier is 20x here.

Conclusion: A surprisingly entertaining slot that can yield decent wins

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Chronos Joker is 96.54%, which is excellent, especially for a slot of medium volatility such as this one. Indeed, you will see those re-spins and multipliers often enough for them to be worthwhile. You won’t always rake in big wins, but sometimes a nice 20x to 50x your stake is definitely possible.

The game’s maximum payout would be 1,600x our stake for a screen full of jokers and 20x multiplier. Nothing to complain about here.
