Theme and basic information

The theme of this game? Your birthday! Or any birthday, really. Every day is a birthday for someone, after all, and generally at least several hundred thousand people could celebrate their birthday on a given day (more likely millions, of course).

We’re celebrating in a bar in New York, where the bull from the Wild Toro slot is our host. And whenever the doorbell rings, one of seven other characters from various ELK Studios slots will make an appearance and bring us random features as a present.

The soundtrack is synthesized and can be quite fun. But don’t turn up the volume too high as it might become obnoxious after a while.

The Birthday! logo is the highest value symbol on the reels, paying out 15x our stake for 5 on a payline. The rose pays out 10x our stake for such a win and the cocktails pays out 5x our stake. In addition, we get three balloons in red, blue and green, giving us only six symbols altogether. And they usually come stacked, which can be beneficial to create winning combinations.

Random features throughout

The game comes with 8 different features, which are randomly activated throughout the base game. Whenever the bell rings, one characters shows up with a present, so to speak, and they will proceed to launch their feature.

Two of the features are including wild symbols. They are brought to us by two of minion-like characters from Bloopers.

• Walking Wilds – Up to 3 wilds are added to the reels and they walk with each free re-spin off the reels towards the left.
• Sticky Wilds – Up to 3 sticky wilds are added to the reels, where they are usually added during the Happy Spins or the free spins feature.

Additionally, more features are triggered by other characters:

• Anne Bonny Big Wins – You get free re-spins until you get a win of at least 15x your stake.
• Camel Gift – You get free re-spins until you’ve had 3 to 5 wins of any size.
• Matador Wins – Re-spins are awarded until you get a big win that includes a certain symbol.

When we played the game, we mostly got the Walking Wilds and Sam’s Sticky Symbols as extra features, but the other features will make an appearance as well. You might just have to wait a while.

Conclusion: A slot that is quirky and original, but can be hit and miss

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Birthday! is 96.30%, which is above average and quite decent. But the Birthday! video slot can be very volatile, and you might need to budget for several hundred spins before you get anywhere.

All the features are pretty fun, and it almost doesn’t matter which one is triggered. Some can be more lucrative than others, of course. The slot is original and quirky. The only problem is that you might spin for 100 rounds without any of the birthday guests making an appearance and thus you’re not getting a feature. That can be frustrating. And then, at other times, the guests just keep coming.

Which is probably when the party is best, and you should stop playing. Otherwise you might be in for a sad Birthday! party, which would be a shame.
