Lucky Wizard Slot Review
Lucky Wizard is a video slot from Red Tiger Gaming with 5 reels and 40 paylines. Released in June 2019, you can play this game at online casinos such as Guts, Maria Casino or Playson.
Theme and basic information
You’ll be excused for thinking that Lucky Wizard is another ‘Luck o’the Irish’ theme with a leprechaun at its centre. There’s so much green here, this is an easy mistake to make. Plus, we get a pot of gold in the bonuses and the wizard in this game has a red beard and a green hat.
But yes, this is a slot with a wizard as the main characters. The background is a magical meadow and symbols of luck and wizardry are on the reels. It’s all very pretty and enchanting, a little bright perhaps but that’s because of all that gold on the reels.
The wild is a golden clover (obviously!) and pays out 800 coins for five on a payline. The golden horseshoe (what else?!) is still worth 480 coins for such a win. The golden star pays 360 coins for 5 on a payline and the green wizard hat pays 240 coins. The book of spells still pays 120 coins for such a win.
The remaining low-value symbols are the card suit symbols.
You can play this game from 0.10 to 100.00.
Random bonuses in the base game
The wizard is quite generous in this game, regularly dishing out bonuses whenever he feels like this. They won’t often pay big, but this game is not very volatile and won’t eat into your budget too much.
- Lucky Reels – Only high-value symbols spin on the reels to hopefully create good wins
- Lucky Swap – Similar to above as low-value symbols are swapped for higher value ones
- Random Wilds – A bunch of wilds are randomly added to the reels
- Lucky Nudge – The reels are nudged upwards or downwards to give a guaranteed win
- Lucky Win – A pot of gold appears in the middle of the reels and gets filled with coins from above
All these features ensure that it never gets boring and that you hardly realise that this game has no free spins. It makes waiting for the bonus game much easier.
Find your way to massive multipliers
The bonus game is triggered by landing three Lucky Bonus symbols on the reels. Our wizard is taken onto a path through the lands and has to wander along in order to pick up multipliers. A bunch of vials appear on the lower left-hand side of the screen and you pick them. Whichever one you pick determines the number of steps the wizard can take along the path and whether you get another pick to continue.
On our first try, we managed to get to the 80x multiplier, which was pretty awesome. It’s also nicely done because you see quite a bit of the landscape.
Mostly, of course, you probably won’t get that far, but it is possible to pick up a 800x multiplier if you manage to get to the end.
Conclusion: A very fun game that can yield good wins
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Lucky Wizard is 96.42%, which is very good value. Since wins are regular and the game isn’t overly volatile, you’ll be able to stay up on your budget most of the time.
With all those extra random bonuses, you will have a lot of fun whilst hoping to trigger the bonus game. And it doesn’t much matter that there are no free spins to be had here. The multiplier bonus can hand out decent wins.
Most of the time, you won’t get big wins, but every once in a while, you will indeed feel lucky and the wizard is paying out handsomely. Lucky Wizard is a game you’re likely going to revisit.
