Online Gambling In the United Kingdom Slows Down

The UK Gambling Commission has completed a Q1-2015 prevalence study which shows that participation in online gambling activities has fallen for 5 points. Last year this number was 56%, whereas this year it is 51%. This percentage was received by questioning participants whether they took part in online gambling in the last four weeks.

This prevalence study is something that is assessed on regular basis and published so people can get information about gambling activity of punters located in the United Kingdom.

The main attraction to British online gamblers is still the National Lottery that makes 36% of the overall market. However, this number is down for 5 points in comparison with the same period last year. In addition to the 36% of players who played the National Lottery, there are 13% who tried some other lottery action as well as 9% who tested their luck on scratchcards.

When it comes to online gambling and betting activity, the situation is mostly the same. These activates note a fall of only one percent to 16%. If lottery is excluded from the equation, then the fall is again only one point that leads to 9% in total.

Interesting fact is that the number of women players has grown for 2 points to 13%; male fellow gamblers fell for 4 points to 17%. The situation is similar when talking about overall gambling situation – males noted a 6 point decline to 55%, whereas females fell for 3 points down to 48%.

The demographics research has revealed that two groups of people have been gambling online more this year. Citizens between 24 and 34 years noted a growth of 2 points to 14%, whereas those over 60 years had a small growth of one percent to 5% in total.
