The Number of UK Online Gamblers Continues to Grow

According to the newest statistics of the UK Gambling Commission, the interest in gambling in Britain has wobbled slightly in 2013, but the online gambling market in the country continues to grow steadily.

In general, the study from the gambling regulator says that the number of players in Britain taking part in gambling activities has been reduced by 2 percent last year, which is 57 percent down from the figure in 2012. 55 percent of the players said that they have participated in at least one form of gambling in the past four weeks.

Entitled “Gambling participation: activities and mode of access”, the report further states that people most likely have gambled at least once a month but less that once a week. However, most of the respondents said that they have taken part in gambling once a week. In addition, 60 percent of the male players said that they have participated in gambling in the past four weeks, compared to 50 percent of the female respondents.

Moreover, the study of the UK Gambling Commission has shown that online gambling in UK continues to grow at a steady pace. About 15 percent of the players said that they have taken part in online gambling in the past four weeks, compared to 14 percent from last year. With the exception of the UK’s National Lottery, 9 percent of the people have participated in online gambling, which is a slight rise on the 8 percent from 2012.

The National Lottery is still the most popular type of gambling. 43 percent of the respondents said that they have taken part in the draws. But the number is slightly down compared to those that participated in 2012.
