Dragon’s Fire Slot Review
Dragon’s Fire is a video slot from Red Tiger with 4 reels and 40 paylines. Released in August 2018, this game can be played at online casinos such as Casumo, Guts or PlayOjo.
Theme and basic information
Dragons are the theme of this game. Nothing but dragons. Beautiful, beautiful dragons. We can hear the dragon breathing in the background, fire is crackling away and music spelling doom underscores it all.
The graphics are once again rendered stunningly in this slot and Red Tiger shows what they are capable of. For a while, you just want to look at the gorgeous details in each and every symbol on the reels.
We get a bunch of different dragons, all tiny with a treasure that they are holding. The golden dragon is worth 120 coins for 5 on a payline. The red dragon pays out 100 coins for such a win. The green dragon is worth 80 coins and the blue dragon pays out 60 coins for 5 on a payline.
The low-value symbols are dragon eggs that match the dragons in colour.
The wild and the golden dragon eye always land stacked on the reels. They are both worth 200 coins for 5 on a payline.
The reels are framed by a big dragon, who looks gorgeous as well and plays his part during the base game features. A massive red dragon egg sits on the right-hand side.
You can play this game from 0.20 to 500.00 per spin, though this may differ depending on your casino.
Wild reels and extra multipliers in the base game
The base game is by no means boring. In fact, we experienced much more excitement in the base game than during the free spins.
The dragon framing the reels will move above the reels every once in a while and breathe fire down those same reels. The Fire Blast will leave wild reels behind. We’ve regularly received 2 wild reels, but up to 4 seem possible. Perhaps even 5.
A massive dragon eye will also show up randomly on a winning spin and boost that win with a multiplier of up to 10x. Once the multiplier has been determined, it will be added to the win.
And speaking of multipliers, with every consecutive win, the red dragon egg will add a multiplier to the win. If the consecutive wins stop, the multiplier disappears again. In theory, you could get up to a 50x multiplier in this game. It is also possible that you collect multipliers with consecutive wins and then the dragon eye will appear in between, boosting the multiplier a little further.
Locked multipliers in the free spins
Catching the free spins seems difficult in this game. Playing over 600 spins, we only got them twice, which was frustrating. You need three scatters to trigger the free spins. Then three golden dragons appear, which you choose one from. It will reveal the number of free spins you will receive. Usually, you will get between 8 and 15. Both times we played the free spins, we got the lowest number, 11 and 10, respectively.
During the free spins, a multiplier that you started the spins with will be held in place. If you started without a multiplier, your first consecutive win will add a 2x multiplier. Either way, each consecutive win adds a multiplier and the multiplier boost may show up as well.
Three more scatters will retrigger the feature. Unfortunately, the free spins were a total disappointment for us, as we won only 6x and 12x, respectively.
Conclusion: A feature-rich game that can test your patience and your budget
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Dragon’s Fire is 96.07%. That’s just average and the slot is also quite volatile most of the time. Most wins don’t seem to be big and the multiplier often tends to increase those small wins but is gone by the time bigger wins might show up. So, it’s definitely recommended that you watch your budget in this game.
Whilst the free spins were hard to come by and not at all what we would call successful, the base game had a way of making up for that. Once we had a win with 2 wild reels, two stacks of golden eyes and a 3x multiplier that made us 240x our stake. And after the second round of free spins only earned us 12x our stake, which made us groan in frustration, we managed a win with yet another 2 wild reels, two stacks of golden eyes and a 9x multiplier (which had been added randomly). Our jaws dropped at the 800x our stake win.
The moral of this little tale? Don’t give up easily. This slot requires patience, but, boy, does it pay off when you stick with it.
