Brilliant graphics
We know that Betsoft is big in the 3D slot business. They always pay a lot of attention to the graphic detail of their games, which makes them a feast for the eyes. There’s always so much to see. Though, often we get animated slots that very much look like animated children’s movies, which includes the characters.
There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but a more adult look every once in a while would be a nice change. That’s what we get with The Golden Owl of Athena.
The reels are set before a backdrop of Ancient Greek looking landscapes with temples and gardens and such. On the reels itself, we find Athena, a big temple, a beautiful silver tree, a soldier’s helmet, a spear and an amphora (a Greek vase).
The animations are subtle at times, but when the golden owl appears and brings us free spins, we get a little more to look at. The slot is beautifully done, especially the reel symbols.
Great features
The base game doesn’t have much to offer beyond spinning the reels. You can go for a double up in case you win, and a coin is being tossed where you have to bet all your winnings on heads or tails.
But you should be looking forward to the free spin feature. You need at least three golden owls to trigger it. That’s when you get 8 free spins. With four or five owls you’ll get 12 or 20 spins, respectively.
Then a random symbol on the reels is selected as a special symbol that expands whenever it lands on the reels. It’ll grant you wins no matter where it lands on the reels.
We scored 8 spins soon after we started playing the game and quite enjoyed the feature and the handsome wins. Plus, the slot has an RTP of 95.05%, which is a little higher than usual in Betsoft slots.
