No more Marvel slots

It’s been announced back in 2013 that the Marvel slots from Playtech will lose their license eventually. The slots have been hugely successful and were immensely popular, but the licenses essentially expired on the 31st December 2016.

Disney buys Marvel

It’s not exactly a secret that Disney has been on a bit of a buying spree. They bought Pixar. They bought Star Wars. And they bought Marvel. Disney is a family friendly company and that is thus true for all its brands as well.

Slots, or gambling as a whole, are not exactly considered family friendly. When Disney bought Marvel, they also bought the rights to license Marvel products. Playtech was one such company that held a license to make Marvel branded products and in their case it was slots.

With the expiration of the license at the end of last month most Marvel slots more or less vanished. As of right now, you can still play Fantastic Four, Iron Man 2 and 3, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man. All these slots are actually progressive jackpots. But the jackpot is one and the same for these slots.

It’s not entirely clear when they will be taken offline, but at the moment you can still play these slots at Playtech casinos such as bet365.

Age of Gods

Playtech, of course, didn’t just wait for a line of fantastic slots to disappear. Instead they created the Age of the Gods series. Those slots bring ancient Greek gods to the centre stage and we can be sure that there will be no licensing issues here.

These slots are also pretty fantastic and players have been able to make the transition during the last few months. Whilst more slots will be released in the future, it’s possible to play Age of the Gods, Furious 4, King of Olympus, The Fate Sisters and others.

Some of these are also linked to a progressive jackpot, whilst most of them correspond to a Marvel slot in terms of gameplay.

For those of you who prefer superhero slots, worry not. Any DC themed superhero slots will still be available to play.
