Grand Lisboa in Macau offers new Gaming Area

Friday, March 18, 2016—SJM Holdings Ltd announced its Grand Lisboa location has a new gaming section. The company called it a grand opening, since the renovation project was extensive. The operator SJM Holdings Ltd renovated the casino to have 9,365 square feet of gaming area, with more than 10 tables and 40 slot machines. The renovations also included a dining lounge for any Macau visitors.

The new area is located on the mezzanine floor, which is the upper first floor of Grand Lisboa. The facility revealed the new gaming area back in January with a soft opening. The new area was once a restaurant, before the space was used to increase the gaming area and a new dining venue was created.

SJM Holdings is not mentioning the target audience for the new space. However, Grand Lisboa has previously targeted the “premium mass market.” Multi-game terminals, 78 of them, were installed in February to appeal to the mass market.
Renovations of the hotel are not complete. The ground floor of the casino resort will be updated in March and April 2016. These renovations are going to be finished at the end of the year. There is also a plan to add 5 more tables and 31 more slot machines after the first floor renovations are finished.

SJM Holdings stated they are still working on the renovations for the hotel rooms. It is felt that the rooms needed an overhaul since they have not been changed since 2009. The renovations began in 2014 on the rooms and will take through next year to be completed.

SJM Holdings Ltd is also building a new property. It is located in Cotai. The new place is called Grand Lisboa Palace. It is expected to open in 2017, with an investment of $3.9 billion. The company is also working on the opening of Casino Jai Alai for later in 2016.
