The Fortune of Bet365 Owners Increases by 60% in a Year on Britain’s Richest List

The Coates family, the owners of the betting operator Bet365, made it in the Top 25 of the recently published Sunday Times Richest List. Every year Times publishes its annual list of the UK’s richest 1,000 people and the Coates family members with their Bet365 brand leaped 20 positions to the 24th spot. The family boosted their fortune by £1.4 billion or 60 percent in 2015 compared to 2014 and even tripling their fortune from 2013. Coates’s net worth was estimated at £3.8 billion.

According to the list, siblings Denise and John, who are both CEOs of the group, and father Peter, who is the chairman of Bet365, are the 24th richest family in Britain and the most successful digital company owners in the UK. Moreover, Denise in particular was singled out as the wealthiest self-made woman in Britain.

The closest digital company to the Coates is Mark Scheinberg, the former owner of the PokerStars parent i.e. the Rational Group, whose net fortune was £2.9 billion, £110 million higher than last year, followed by Playtech’s main shareholder Teddy Sagi with a net worth of £2.5 billion.

A bit further down the list are the siblings Fred and Peter Done at 82nd spot whose ever-growing combined fortune was estimated at £1.3 billion, £300 million higher compared to the previous year.

The top gambling-related spot and the highest position overall belonged to brothers Simon and David Reuben, whose co-ownership of the Arena Racing Company increased their net fortune to £13.1 billion.

Other racing-related luminaries made it on the 2015 list. These include siblings John and Kirsten Raussing whose net worth was £8.7 billion while the fortune of Earl Cadogan was worth £5.7 billion.
