Detroit Authorities Investigating Alleged Cheating at Detroit Casino

February 22, 2016—Detroit Authorities have charged one person with cheating at a Detroit, MI casino. The man has been accused of being one of six other people, who conspired to cheat the casino. He worked as a dealer. Bill Shuette, Michigan Attorney General, stated charges are being brought in this case. It involved hundreds of dollars in payouts to players on bets lost during Texas Hold’em games. It occurred at Motor City Casino. Schuette told media that the state police started investigating upon request from the casino.

Allegedly Daryl Green, 53 years old, worked for the casino. He was a dealer in 2014. Allegedly, he conspired to pay money on losing bets or not collect lost bets. Six other people are “associated with him” and are being investigated to determine if they had a part in the scheme.

The other individuals have been named, and been charged. Police had enough evidence to charge Green with the conspiracy. At this time, Green’s lawyer has not made contact with the media. Green has also not commented on the allegations.

Eugene Davis, Earl Leonard Railey, Calvin Lawrence Pullom, Roxanna Dee McKinney, Leah Katrelle Smith, and Hayword Milton Stampley have also been charged. According to Schuette, they meet with Green “outside the casino” before the alleged cheating happened.

Detroit Police will continue investigating the case to determine if Green was working alone or with the players who kept their lost bets. Motor City Casino has not commented on the charges.

It is known that the casino was concerned about Green’s actions. Security did decide to involve police investigators when the casino started suspecting cheating was occurring.

The seven individuals are charged with one count of felony conspiracy to cheat at gambling activities, and “conspiracy to commit larceny.”

The case is ongoing and more information may be made available.
