Twin River Group Holding Public Meetings for Tiverton Casino

Twin River Management Group announced the three public meetings they have scheduled to discuss plans for the Tiverton Casino.
On August 17, 2015, Twin River posted the meetings as:
• 7pm to 9pm September 10 at Tiverton High School
• 2pm to 4pm September 12 at Country View Estates Clubhouse (location tentative)
• 6:30pm to 8pm September 22 at Tiverton High School

These three public meetings are to allow residents a voice in the proposed Tiverton Casino. Residents will be able to view the architectural design, discuss the amenities they prefer, and environmental and traffic concerns. For amenities Twin River Management Group is proposing a hotel, entertainment and dining options. The sessions are held by Twin River’s project team.

Twin River Management Group owns Newport Grand and Twin River Casino. They have already hosted 26 neighborhood meetings, with approximately 700 residents in attendance. By the end of the month, the group will host four more neighborhood meetings.

John E. Taylor Jr. told media liaisons their group has already learned a great deal from the first 26 meetings and hope to learn more about the preferred size, amenities, and entertainment the locals would like to have. The group has already shared what they would like the casino to be.

The meetings are the beginning to being accepted for the casino proposal. It is going to be off Route 81 near the Massachusetts border on 41 acres of land. The idea is to take Massachusetts and Rhode Island revenue into the casino and make it the third largest revenue source for Rhode Island.

There are many approvals necessary to move forward, including getting the Tiverton Town Council to put a petition in for the General Assembly to put a casino question on November 2016s ballot. The casino also is dependent on transferring the Newport Grand slots parlor license to Tiverton Casino, where the Newport location would be shuttered.
