Famous Gambler Archie Karas Banned From All Nevada Casinos

Anargyros Karabourniotis, or better known as Archie Karas, is well known to those in the gambling industry. Karas is famous for his accomplishment known as “The Run” that was on from 1992 to 1994 when he managed to make more than $40 million out of $50. However, since then things haven’t been going good for him and the latest incident connected to his name was Nevada’s decision to include him on the state’s Black Book.

According to information released in the press, the Nevada Gaming Commission unanimously agreed to make Karas the 33rd person to be added on the list of people who are not allowed entrance in Nevada casinos. Karas, who is now 64 years, didn’t show up at the hearing of the Commission to defend himself. Thus, from now on, visiting a Nevada casino would mean criminal charges for him.

The once famous gambler was included to the list for numerous transgressions. The last incident was back in September 2013 when Karas was arrested for cheating at blackjack in a San Diego casino. The gambler was found guilty and got three years of probation. Previously, he had been arrested for four times in the state since 1988 for cheating at the same game.

When he was at the top of his career, Karas defeated some of the top poker players at the time including Stu Ungar, Doyle Brunson and Chip Reese. In his lifetime tournament earnings, this player has almost $205k and he managed to earn cash on seven World Series of Poker events.

However, Karas lost his magic years ago and managed to lose everything he generated during his famous Run. His latest achievement dates back in 2009 at the WSOP, a tournament that is no longer open to him after he was blacklisted by the NGC.
