Wetumpka Casino Winner Earns a Million

For one lucky Alabama resident, Wetumpka Casino was the place to be and enjoying a little gambling. On June 19, 2015 it was announced that Irene, an Alabama resident, hit a jackpot of $1,046,368. Irene was a first time guest of the casino hotel. She hit the jackpot while playing Million Degrees Progressive. Irene is the fifth winner at Wetumpka Casino in less than 60 days. Three other winners also played Million Degrees Progressive.

Cody Williamson stated Wind Creek Casino and Hotel (WCH) Wetumpka loves to celebrate with the family and guests when someone wins. Williamson personally congratulated Irene for becoming an instant millionaire.

Irene and Donald, her husband, live in Birmingham. They decided to visit the casino with a group of friends. The win happened as the couple were getting ready to leave. After the win they decided to stay an extra day. Irene was happy to win stating her husband has always taken care of her, but now she has the money to take care of him.

Irene has been to other casinos in Las Vegas, Aruba, and Atlantic City, but it took a quick spin on a slot machine in her home state to gain a big win.

Wind Creek Hospitality is operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. WCH manages Wind Creek Casino Hotel in Atmore, Wetumpka, and Montgomery. They also manage racetracks in Florida and Alabama.

Poarch Creek Indians are descended from the Creek Nationa tribe that used to cover Alabama and Georgia. As a tribe, they were not removed from tribal lands and have lived together on a reservation for over 200 years. The reservation is eight miles northwest of Atmore in a rural section of Escambia County. The tribe is federally recognized and operates as a sovereign nation with its own bylaws and government.
