Latest UK Gambling Industry Statistics Published by UK Gambling Commission

The UK Gambling Commission has published a report on the UK gambling industry that focuses on the period between April, 2010 and September, 2014. Thanks to this in-depth statistics players can have a look at the evolution of land based and online gambling in the country and form some expectations for the future as well.

The report released by the British gaming authority reveals many important numbers such as gaming revenues and how they changed throughout the years, number of employees in the gaming industry as well as numbers connected to online gaming.

For example, online gambling operators that are licensed in the United Kingdom noted a 27% y-o-y growth and their GGY (Gross Gaming Yield) is 1.35b. Also promising numbers are the ones that show the number of online gambler registrations is constantly increasing and reached 5.59m. As a direct result of this occurrence, the number of people working in the gambling industry reached 15,211 (8% growth).

However, players might be surprised to find out that online casino GGY has noted a fall of 12%. Another fall was seen in the total number of casinos in the UK. Therefore, in March, 2011, there were 149 casinos, whereas in September, 2014 that number fell to 146.

It is important to point out that the GGY of the UK’s remote gaming industry noted a growth from £1.94b (January-December, 2010) to £2.99b (January-December, 2014).
