Many Casino Owners among UK’s Richest People

Every year the Sunday Times publishes a Rich List where UK’s richest people are revealed. This year’s list includes many names of people who are somehow related to the online gambling industry in the country.

For example, an impressive fortune of £2.76 billion belongs to the former owner of Rational Group Mark Scheinberg; to poker players he is best known as the owner of PokerStars. His fortune got him the 36th place on Sunday Times Rich List.

However, one of the names that attracted lots of attention was the Coates power duo that owns the online casino and sports betting group Bet365. Peter and Denise Coates noted a jump from 78th to 44th place on the list thanks to their highly profitable company. During the past 12 months they managed to almost double their fortune. It used to be £1.15 billion and now it is 96% higher £2.35 billion. Bet365 in 2014 reported revenues of amazing £320.9 million.

Another name that earned a place on the billionaire’s list is the founder of Betdaq called Dermont Desmond. His fortune of £1.47 billion also placed him on spot number 5 on the list of richest people in Ireland. The Done brothers who own Betfred reported profit of £50 million in the past 12 months; the money was just what they needed to hit the Billion.

Michael Tabor in 2014 decided to take over Victor Chandler’s online gambling company widely known as BetVictor and that made him just another power person in the UK gambling industry. Tabot’s fortune is mouth-watering £600 million.

Finally, the list of richest people in the UK who are closely related with iGaming ends with David Power’s £236 million (Paddy Power) as well as with Betfair’s founders Ed Wray (£222 million) and Andrew Black (£135 million).
