YouTube is Blocking Channels Featuring Slot Vids

Apparently YouTube channels that are showing general interest and/or promotional slot videos are being closed down by YouTube. This happened over the weekend and there has been a lot of speculation about it on forums.

YouTube members didn’t even contact nor consulted with well-known channels like Gamingslots and Slotjunkies about the sudden and unexpected shutdown and according to posters on a couple of online forums, it appears that YouTube has silently changed its terms and conditions forbidding such gaming content.

The T&C change of YouTube came into effect this past weekend and it is speculated to be triggered by concerns about the reactions of countries around the world where gambling is illegal and not advertized.

Most of the channels affected by this change said that they are going to move forward on Vimeo. Nevertheless, the situation is creating a lot of frustration and anger, especially in the United Kingdom where gambling is licensed and strictly regulated.

Furthermore, YouTube put an over 18 years-old restriction on a video ad from Paddy Power which has recently gone viral. The ad produced by Crispin Porter and Bogusky features England football players trying to avoid girls from Ukraine and Poland by fitting them with goal line technology. A spokesman at Paddy Power criticized that even though the video has gone viral the “fun police” or YouTube still decided to put the restriction.

Others were also affected to the change. The channel of Perspectives Weekly presented by J. Todd’s APCW which shows interest in the gambling industry also had a glitch with YouTube. Todd’s account was suspended with a note saying that the suspension is due to a number of violations of YouTube’s policy about spam and scams.
