Pro Golfer John Daly Has Lost $90 Million Gambling

John Daly, a professional golf player from the United States, is reported to have lost nearly $90 million gambling during a period of 15 years compared to $35 million in gambling wins. Most of his loses apparently come from the high roller blackjack tables. Daly told TMZ that the numbers shocked him when he had estimated the figures before he decided to review his tax records.

According to the report, John Daly made the staggering losses playing blackjack and betting on sports events between 1992 and 2007. “It clearly shocked me,” said Daly regarding his reaction when he learned about the huge losses. Daily, a former PGA Champion, said that he racked up the large losses because he used to play 7 hands in a gaming session.

Known for his drinking and gambling habits, Daly told the magazine that he used to travel the world and visit five-star hotel and casino resorts where he would put large stakes at the table games. At one occasion, when he lost a playoff to Tiger Woods eight years ago, he flew to Las Vegas and gambled about $1.65 million in five hours. All in all, in the past 15 years Daly threw away $90 million in losses, while he managed to earn just $10,116,306 million in PGA tour winnings.

Daly supposedly likes winning golf matches, but off the course he also likes the rush, despite winning or losing. About gambling he said that it is more about the adrenaline than the money. “I really loved the action on the tables,” he added. Putting his losses in perspective, the professional golfer also added that he had a lot of fun gambling.
