The Number of UK Online Gamblers Is Down by 1%

According to the latest review of the UK Gambling Commission on the number of online gamblers in the country, it is noted that the number of online punters in UK has dropped down slightly over the past four quarters.

Compiled by ICM Research, the report showed that 56% of the target people have gambled within the past year. Furthermore, 61% of the males and 51% of the females involved in the survey admitted that they had made bets of some soft during 2013.

From those who said that they have gambled in the past year, 16% had done so on the Internet, which is down by 1% from the survey conducted during the same time last year. Furthermore, 21% of all male gambles and 11% of all female punters said that they had gambled online within the past 12 months.

From those that said they have gambled on the Internet, 17% had done so in both brick and mortar and online casinos, while 71% of the gamblers in the UK had gambled in person. Furthermore, according to the survey, the most popular way of betting in the United Kingdom was the National Lottery and 41% of the respondents said that they had taken part in within the past year.

Gambling “online only” was the most popular method for sports betting, spread betting, betting on other events as well as playing casino games, while betting “in person” at bookmakers was the most common option for all types of betting activity within the past four weeks.
