Five Star Power Reels Slot Review
Five Star Power Reels is a classic slot from Red Tiger with 8 reels and 5 paylines. Released in June 2019, this game can be played at online casinos such as Dunder, Royal Vegas or PlayOjo.
Theme and basic information
In many ways, Five Star Power Reels looks, sounds and plays like a classic slot. The video slot elements are not sufficient to classify it as such. The game is the sequel to the much simpler Five Star slot that looks almost exactly the same, though it is scaled smaller on a typical 5×3 reel set. Also, the original version doesn’t pay both ways. This one does.
We are looking at a classic reel set, even though we get 8 reels here and 5 rows. There are only 5 paylines, horizontally following each row. The advantage is that the game pays left to right and right to left.
On the reels we find the typical fruit machine symbols: 7s, cherries, lemons, grapes, melons, oranges and plums. The 7 is worth the most for 8 on a payline, paying out 200x our stake for such a win. The fruit symbols following far behind here.
You can play this game from 0.10 per spin to 80.00 per spin. As always, this may differ depending on the casino you’re playing at.
Repeat Spins
Scoring wins, especially bigger wins, is achieved by the main function of this game: Repeat Spins. These don’t work like our classic re-spins, mind you.
Instead, whenever you get a winning spin, the win is paid out and the machine starts gearing up for another spin, which would repeat exactly the same spin that you just got, paying out exactly the same winning combination(s) again.
The feature is random and not every winning spin will result in a Repeat Spin. On average, we estimate that every 3rd or 4th win gets repeated. Sometimes you may get only 1 repeat. But you can get up to 10 repeats of the same win. That’s how you arrive at the maximum payout of 10,000x your stake.
Five Star Instant Wins
A special feature to collect instantly bigger wins in one spin are the Five Star wins. The Five Star symbol lands randomly on the reels. Depending on how many you get at once, your win is multiplied, followed by a chance to then get Repeat Spins.
- 3 Five Star symbols = 25x your bet
- 4 Five Star symbols = 100x your bet
- 5 Five Star symbols = 1,000x your bet
So, in theory, you could get 5 Five Star symbols on the reels and win 1,000x your bet in a single spin. If you then get the maximum of 10 Repeat Spins, you would have made 10,000x your bet.
Conclusion: Huge potential on this hit or miss classic slot
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Five Star Power Reels is 96.06%. That’s an average value and this slot is definitely very volatile. On a hot streak, you keep getting smaller line wins here and there followed by a few Repeat Spins. On a cold streak, you lose 10 or 20 spins in a row. When the latter happens, the game feels boring, almost tedious. It drains your wallet and it’s not even exciting to look at. The repetitive slot machine noises can also grind on your nerves.
But every once in a while, this slot can blow you away. Whilst you will rarely get more than 4 Repeat Spins at a time, we once won 360x our bet on a bunch of 7s with 3 repeats. Another time, we got 4 Five Star symbols on the reels and miraculously saw 7 repeats! That earned us 700x our stake in wins. And when something like that happens, you’ll love this slot.
Mind you, if you do get a win like that, pocket it and walk away. Chances of a repeat anytime soon are unlikely. Though not impossible…
