Blood Suckers II Review
Blood Suckers II is a video slot from NetEnt with 5 reels and 25 paylines. You’ll be able to play Blood Suckers II at online casinos such as Mr Green, Cashmio or Dunder.
Theme and game basics
Blood Suckers II is the direct sequel to one of NetEnt’s favourite video slots: Blood Suckers. A classic in its own right and particularly popular because of its simple but hard-hitting features and a great return to player rate.
Blood Suckers II follows young vampire heiress Amilia, who enters the abandoned castle of her forebears, trying to get to their treasures and facing off against the demon. She’s featured prominently to the left of the reels. The game offers much more detail and great visual effects than the original, of course. The background sound is suitably spooky and the atmosphere overall deliciously dark. On the reels you find various vampires, card suit symbols, a fiery wild, a scatter and a bonus symbol. The vampires all offer between 200 and 500 coins for a 5-of-a-kind win. But it is the wild that is most valuable, offering 10,000 coins on a 5-of-a-kind win. Five scatters will give you 2,500 coins anywhere on the reels, though two of them will already pay, even though you need three to trigger the free spins.
Gameplay and features
In theory, the base game has two features: the Scatter shot and the Bonus shot. In the case of two bonus symbols appearing on the first three reels, Amilia will shoot at the reels and add a bonus symbol to it, triggering the bonus feature. Conversely, when two scatters show up anywhere on the reels, Amilia may add a scatter symbol to the reels, triggering the free spin feature.
In practice, however, you will rarely if ever see this feature. During 300 spins, we’ve not seen it once.
Thankfully, you won’t really need Amilia to trigger the bonus features as they will show up often enough on their own. Three bonus symbols on consecutive reels starting on the left-most reel will trigger the Hidden Treasure bonus. Here you’re down in the catacombs where various chests and coffins wait to be opened. They contain coin prizes, scatter symbols or keys to the next level. If you get the demon, however, the feature ends. You can make your way through five levels, collecting coins on the way. If you manage to outwit the demon until the last level, you can win up to 670x your stake. Also, if you triggered the bonus feature with 4 bonus symbols, all coin wins are doubled. Triggering it with 5 bonus symbols means all coin wins are tripled. Finally, if you collect at least three scatter bonuses, you will trigger the free spins.
The free spins are triggered in the base game by collecting at least three scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. This is a very simple free spin feature that applies a 3x multiplier on all wins. It’s possible to re-trigger the free spins and get 10 additional spins on top.
Conclusion
The theoretical RTP (return to player) of Blood Suckers II is 96.94%. That is an excellent value and only slightly less than the original Blood Suckers game. Truth be told, Blood Suckers II is certainly the more attractive of the two games, with great graphics and more details. The original does manage to look creepier, however. It is also more volatile and has the higher RTP. Still, it’s a close call between the two games in terms of gameplay and fun. Blood Suckers II tells its own story and manages to be a worthy successor without ruining the original game. You’ll be happy trying out both of them. Our only gripe with the second part are the shot features in the base game, which the game doesn’t need and players don’t see anyway.
