In the iGaming world The Stars Group is not commonly associated with Amaya Gaming just yet. Almost everyone still talks about Amaya, but in May 2017 the company decided on a rebranding effort and a major overhaul, more or less leaving what used to be Amaya Gaming behind.

The Stars Group Casinos List

The Stars Group has a few of its own brand, none of which we have reviewed at this time. But many well-known and established online casinos have worked with Amaya and its subsidiaries in the past and there’s no reason to believe that that will change in the future.

We have reviewed a number of online casinos that used to feature Amaya games and you’ll find them right here. Should we find that anything has changed, we’ll update you accordingly. For the time being our reviewed and recommended online casinos are all safe and secure for you to play at. You can always check them out for yourself to find out whether or not any Amaya games might be available for you to enjoy.

About Amaya Gaming and The Stars Group

It’s probably fair to say that those two things are not the same. Amaya Gaming was founded in 2004 and concentrated on land-based gambling products. The company was located in Montreal, Canada, and dabbled not just in slots and casino games for brick-and-mortar casinos, but also in horseracing, sportsbetting and even such games as Mahjong. For a long time their tablets were really quite popular. They gave access to gambling features to hotel guests that stayed in hotels with adjoining casinos.

Eventually Amaya also entered the online gambling market, acquiring Chartwell and then Cryptologic to bolster their online portfolios. Indeed, Amaya worked with a few subsidiaries and third-party developers in order to supply more games to their customers.

Last year the company made a bid for William Hill, which was ultimately rejected by William Hill and could be considered a bit of a setback for Amaya.

One of their biggest ventures was, however, Poker, especially with their brands PokerStars, BetStars and Full Tilt. After some difficult times the company decided to rebrand earlier this year and changed their name to The Stars Group, relocating from Montreal to Toronto at the same time.

They decided to return their focus to online poker, but will also continue to expand their online casino business.

Portfolio

It’s somewhat difficult to give you an overview of Amaya’s games at this point. The brand does not officially exist any longer and on The Stars Group homepage no games are actually listed. Their portfolio is not even really mentioned there.

Amaya made a variety of slots, table games, video poker and casino poker games as well as a version of craps. At their PokerStars Casino you’ll find a large variety of games, some of which are indeed produced in-house, but many come from third-party suppliers as well.

There is now even a proprietary progressive jackpot, Millionaires Island, which was launched at the beginning of this year and seeds at $1 Million. It’s been won at least twice since then and in short order at that, paying out a total of over $2.9 Million.

The Stars Group has definitely plans on growing their online casino business and it remains to be seen whether and how they will expand their portfolio or if they prefer to work with third-party suppliers or use subsidiaries instead.

Safety and security

At least in that regard nothing much has changed. Amaya has always been incredibly well licensed and certified, which is still true for The Stars Group. The company reports at length on their security features on their homepage. They’ve worked with TST, NMi, eCOGRA and many others to ensure their games are tested and therefore fair and secure for players.

Additionally the company holds licenses from Alderney, the UKGC, Gibraltar and Malta. Given that they are operating internationally and headquartered in Canada, holding so many European licenses is quite unusual. The Stars Group also boasts to hold the most online poker licenses in the world.

News

You won’t hear much about game releases from Amaya or The Stars Group. The company is busy with their brands at the moment and lately we’ve mostly heard about their rebranding as well as news relating to PokerStars as well as new appointments for high positions at The Stars Group.

Indeed, this does seem to be a time for change and things could get quite busy for the company in the near future. We’re definitely keeping an eye out to see what’s up with them and will report on anything that we deem relevant to you.
