About Rival

Rival made its debut at the Global iGaming Summit & Expo in 2006. The company originally hails from Canada but has long since moved to Cyprus, which has a very gambling friendly environment.

Originally the company wanted to be an all-in-one solution for online casinos, but each of their products present individual B2B solutions that can be supplied on an as-needed basis.

Whilst Rival withdrew their services from the Canadian market back in 2009, the company is well-known in US-facing online casinos nowadays. Their games equip quite a number of casinos that accept customers from the US and although Rival operates internationally, their games are not as well-known in Europe.

The company has been quite successful in its early years, but a few years ago they made the mistake of not checking partner casinos thoroughly enough, licensing their games out to casinos that ended up being rogue. That damaged Rival’s reputation for a while. The company is back on track nowadays, but they did have to take that hit and it wasn’t entirely necessary.

The Rival Games portfolio

Rival develops just about any type of game you can find in online casinos. Their iSlots range is especially well-known in the industry and made quite a splash when it was first developed. But beyond that they make all kinds of casinos games, which is hardly surprising considering that the developer wants to be a one-stop-shop for online casinos.

Slots – Their iSlots range of games was what made others pay attention to Rival. The games, usually video slots with 5 reels, are of an interactive nature, which gives players skill-based bonus games. Those bonus games do actually require a player’s skill to succeed, which had never been done before until Rival came up with idea. Consequently their games enjoyed quite a success and were rated highly not just among players.

Some of their titles include: Hole in Won, Reel Crime, Spy Game, Rise of Poseidon, Frogged, Arabian Tales and others.

The games were of high quality for their time, offering excellent graphics and a really fun gameplay with a story arc that truly immersed the players. Unfortunately for Rival, many competitors have now caught up and often supply better games. Indeed, Rival hasn’t really been timely in their updates anymore, producing some games that feel rather dated. Still, there’s hope they’ll get back into the game properly.

Table games – Rival does not focus on slots alone. Far from it. The company offers some excellent options for Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack and Casino Poker games such as Red Dog, Pai Gow or Casino War. They even have a graphically really cool Craps table.

Most of their table games offer 3D graphics, which is neat and makes their games worth checking out, if given a chance.

Video Poker and other games – Right now Rival also offers about 7 video poker games. They’re not super special and all look somewhat generic, to be honest, but it’s always good to know that the option to play video poker is available. Many other developers neglect video poker, which enjoys a big popularity with players.

Additionally you can find quite a range of specialty games from Rival. Those include Bingo and Keno as well as various scratch cards. They also have a Sudoku game, which is unique as far as we know and certainly something to check out.

Progressive Jackpots – As an all-in-one provider, Rival also offers progressive jackpot games. There aren’t many of them and they are definitely not well-known, but they are available, which is what matters the most. Most of them look and play like classic machines and the jackpots aren’t huge. But you can still win some handsome sums here.

The titles are: Jackpot 5x Wins, Major Moolah, Money Magic, One Million Reels BC and Strike Gold.

Playing Rival Games Mobile

Rival was really somewhat late to the party on mobile gambling. They only changed from Flash to HTML5 in 2014, which meant finding a working mobile game before that was rather difficult. Since then they’ve certainly caught up and all releases since 2014 are automatically available on mobile platforms and can easily be played on iOS and Android phones.

But older games may still not be available, which is certainly a bit of a shame. All the popular games have been made available, however, because Rival wouldn’t want to lose the popularity of their games that they’ve managed to accrue over the years.

Safety and security

Whilst Rival has a somewhat problematic past of working with disreputable online casinos, changes have since been made and Rival online casinos offer a range of different licenses, making them rather well regulated.

Among those licenses you’ll find Curacao, Panama, UK Gambling Commission, Costa Rica and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

Rival as a company is certified and their games have been tested by such independent auditors as iTechLabs or Certified Fair Gambling. Thus their games can most certainly be considered safe. Just because Rival worked with rogue casinos in the past, their games are not at all unsafe. Rival games have never been the actual issue, only the company’s choice of partners.

Rival Powered News

Rival is a well-known international software provider for online casinos and as such makes it into the news regularly. Since the company releases new games on a monthly basis, you’ll be able to read about that here and there.

Industry news can be found as well, such as new licensing agreements and appointments of high profile staff, etc.

Since we don’t feature many Rival Casinos and their games are not actually that easily found in European online casinos, we are not reporting Rival Powered news regular. But if we do come across relevant news for you, we will be sure to write about it.
