PirateSpin PirateSpin

PirateSpin Casino Review

PirateSpin casino is still brand new in the online casino market and is another casino that is owned and operated by Aspire Global International LTD, who are licensed through the MGA and the UKGC. Do we have any idea why they’re invoking pirates in their theme? Nope. None. Plus, pirates rob unsuspecting sailors off their money, and that might not be a great thing. Unless, of course, we’re the pirates in this scenario, who get to live an adventurous, sort-of-romantic life at sea. We shall see.

Now, like its other online casinos owned by Aspire Global, PirateSpin also offers a huge number of casino games. Additionally, we get a live casino and scratch cards, but this time no sportsbetting of any kind. Each casino should be a little individual and not all of them tend to cater to the same audience. This one concentrates on online casino players, which is quite enough.

Thankfully, the casino also banks on its own kind of welcome offer, instead of a generic one. New customers can claim up to €200 extra as well as 100 spins.

In many ways the casino resembles its sister casino Goliath, thus you can expect to look forward to the following things:

  • A great game selection
  • MGA and UKGC licenses
  • Live casino and mobile casino
  • Lots of free spins in the welcome bonus
  • VIP Program
  • Transparent information

Get 100 spins with your welcome bonus

We’ve often seen a sort of standardized welcome bonus with online casinos that are operated by one company. Thankfully, that is not the case with Aspire Global, who aim for a more individual offering.

Thus, you get a 100% deposit bonus and up to €200 in bonus cash plus 100 extra spins. Those spins can be used on Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, Twin Spin, Aloha or Fruity Friends.

The spins will be credited in the following way:

  • 20 spins on the first day
  • 40 spins on the second day
  • 40 spins on the third day

Extra spins are only valid for 24 hours before they expire, so you should use them right away.

The minimum deposit to claim the welcome bonus, which is added automatically, is €20. Bonus cash and free spin winnings need to be wagered 35 times before a withdrawal is possible. You will have 21 days to achieve that.

How each game contributes towards the wagering requirements is our only issue with the bonus terms. Table games and Video Poker don’t contribute at all. Additionally, a few high RTP slots don’t contribute either. As far as we can tell, almost all NetEnt games as well as a few others only contribute 50% to wagering requirements. That leaves still plenty of slots and scratch cards that contribute 100%, but you should consult the extensive list over at PirateSpin before playing a favourite game and finding out that it contributes nothing or only 50%.

A small selection of live tables

PirateSpin offers the same live casino as its sister casino. That means you get Evolution Gaming live tables, which include a variety of Roulette games, Baccarat, Blackjack and Dream Catcher. All in all there are currently only 10 games available, clearly indicating that this is not the main focus of the casino.

Perhaps, in the future, the casino will expand this offering. That very much depends on player demand, though.

A great selection of games

We already know the slew of excellent game providers that Aspire Global works with. They offer over a thousand games to their customers from more than two dozen game developers. Among them you’ll find: Microgaming, NetEnt, NeoGames, Evolution Gaming, Bally, Play’n GO, WMS (Williams Interactive), NextGen Gaming, Realistic Games, Blueprint Gaming, Barcrest Games, iSoftBet, Aristocrat, Quickspin, Rabcat, Ezugi, Playson, Thunderkick, Big Time Gaming, Elk Studios, SG Gaming, Lightning Box, Cadillac Jack, Habanero, Ainsworth Gaming Technology, Pragmatic Play, Tom Horn Gaming, Skillzzgaming, Magnet Gaming and Old Skool Studios.

We kind of only miss Yggdrasil Gaming among these providers, but we won’t complain about it. A few others are missing as well. Since PirateSpin is still very new, that is most likely going to change anyway. Most casinos do aim for growth in every direction.

Among the games you can enjoy at PirateSpin are: Bollywood Story, Jumanji, Fortunium, Wild Scarab, Amazing Aztecs, House of Doom, Mustang Money, Cops’n Robbers, Diamond Chief, Trojan Treasure, Archangels Salvation and many, many more.

PirateSpin offers a handful of table games and video poker in their “Casino Games” section. You’ll be able to play Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat here. Casino Poker isn’t really part of the offering, but we’re happy with a few Video Poker games regardless.

Scratch cards get their own section at PirateSpin. Here you’ll also find Keno games, though no Bingo.

Whilst the casino does have huge number of games available, the variety in terms of game types isn’t overly extensive. We’d hope to see more table games in the future.

Piratespin Jackpot games

Once again there’s no separate section or filter for jackpot games. We had to use the search field to find any progressive jackpots at all and then we also only found Cosmic Fortune and Divine Fortune as jackpots of any note. Since those are local jackpots only, however, you won’t find life-changing wins here.

All the big jackpots that usually do offer life-changing wins are currently missing at PirateSpin. So, whilst this casino is all about the bounty and the treasure, you won’t be able to find it among the jackpots.

No jackpots

Limited customer service but great FAQ section

Like other Aspire Global online casinos, PirateSpin is committed to “CARE” – Customers Are Really Everything. That means they indeed aspire to provide excellent customer service. But we have not had many experiences with their customer service just yet, which is mostly due to the fact that the casino is still very new.

Thus far, we have not encountered any complaints, however.

A little less than ideal is the fact that you can only contact the customer service team between 8am and 1am CET, though they are available seven days a week. It’s possible to contact the team via live chat, phone and email, though the phone number is an international one and you may want to stick to live chat.

Before doing that, however, we recommend you leaf through the comprehensive FAQ section. PirateSpin provides information on many topics that you may wish to know before signing up, which makes them unusually transparent for a casino so young.

We expect that they will expand their opening hours to full-time availability once they have built a big enough customer base and the demand is there.

Two licenses and a certificate

Aspire Global is licensed through the Malta Gaming Authority as well as the UK Gambling Commission. That alone makes them a trustworthy operator, because the UKGC is notoriously strict with their licensees. Aspire will have to work hard to keep their license, which is good news for players, because the UKGC is very big on player protection.

Additionally, the operator works with the Australian auditing firm iTechLabs and displays their certificate on their homepage. It means that the RNGs used at the casino have been tested for their randomness and fairness.

PirateSpin will have to prove itself with their customers as well, but so far, we see no reason not to consider the casino safe.

Banking information all in one place

Finding out about payment methods is not difficult at PirateSpin. They provide the information at the bottom of the homepage via a separate link. Here you’ll learn that Visa and MasterCard are available for deposits as well as Trustly, Skrill, Neteller, zimpler, EPS, paysafecard, entropay and a number of local instant banking options.

Almost all options are instant, and we also get the transaction times for withdrawals. Not all deposit methods are also available for withdrawals, of course.

What we don’t find out here are minimum and maximum deposit and withdrawal amounts. But that’s not much of an issue, because there’s another section on cash outs, which also informs us about the cash out policy. The monthly withdrawal limit is €7,000 at this time, which is rather low. With new online casinos it’s not unusual, though. We also find out here, that the minimum withdrawal is €10.

Whilst there is a separate link for deposits as well, we still don’t know how much the minimum deposit is, though we expect it to be at least €10, if not €20.

Different and a little unusual but with a familiar template

There are other online casinos that take us on adventures, to sunny islands, or ask us to board a ship. PirateSpin invites us as crewmembers onto a pirate ship to sail the seven seas and find loads of treasure and bounty. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Who hasn’t dreamed of being a pirate in the sunny Caribbean?

So, that’s the theme we get with PirateSpin and whilst the language used here is quite amusing at time, the theme could have been integrated better into the player experience. It’s not just about the images used or the language. Still, it’s definitely not your generic theme and for those it appeals to, it should be fun.

What we do recognize, however, is the template used. That’s almost exactly the same as you can find at Goliath casino. The menu, the different links at the top and the bottom of the homepage and even the order of the links and the different sections. It’s all very familiar.

Thus, we also have the same complaints regarding the filter options for games. It’s not super user-friendly and we could really use better filters here to find games more easily without having to use the search field.

Good on the go but not always fast

PirateSpin’s mobile casino is pretty good. You’ll find plenty of games here, including the live games and, of course, all promotions. You can participate in the VIP club and use the casino almost to its full advantage. Naturally, a few games are not available, since not all of them are HTML5 based, but you won’t get bored on the go.

The casino is a little slow when it comes to loading the mobile pages. The PirateSpin logo appears spinning, which is a neat little feature, one you can also find on the desktop site, but sometimes it spins a little longer than we would prefer.

However, playing games is a smooth experience. We’ve not experienced any loading issues here.

Few promotions and a VIP club

Right now, this area is still a bit on the slim side. We get the welcome promotion and free spin promotion that takes place every Tuesday during the football season. That same promotion is also available at Goliath, so we know what to expect here.

Beyond that, PirateSpin only offers their VIP club, which is still worthwhile, even though we would like to see more regular promotions.

Once you sign up at the casino, you’ll start earning reward points right away. There are seven membership levels in total, which depend on the amount of reward points you earn. The higher you climb, the more advantages are activated for you, some of which are very attractive indeed.

Conclusion: A solid start but not quite there yet

PirateSpin is off to a solid start. The casino is very well regulated, which makes it a safe option for you to play at. The game selection, at least as far as slots are concerned, is very good. We would like to see more table games and we definitely need more jackpot games. The few complaints we have beyond that have already been addressed.

If the theme is something you’re interested in, if you’re looking for a decent welcome bonus, a good VIP club and a safe place to play, PirateSpin is worth checking out. If you’re after progressive jackpots and live games, you may have to wait a while until things are improved here.
