NYX Interactive was founded in Sweden in 2006. Other iGaming software developers had already been around for a number of years then and NYX had to compete against established competitors. Instead of developing games itself, however, NYX decided to acquire other software developers who would then supply their games via the NYX platform.
NYX established its proprietary platform early on and is supplying it to over 200 casinos worldwide these days.
One of their most famous brands is certainly NextGen Gaming, which they acquired in 2011. But NYX also calls Side City Studios and Betdigital subsidiaries that now contribute as in-house developers to the ever extending portfolio.
Whilst they are based in Stockholm, Sweden, they also have offices in Malta and, through NextGen Gaming, in Sydney, Australia. Additional studios and offices are located in Montreal and the UK.

The Open Gaming System (OGS) and the Open Product System (OPS) are certainly NYX Interactive greatest achievements. Originally NYX didn’t create its own games. Instead the company acquired other developers and added their games into their portfolio. Thus, a casino working with NYX would then also get software from NextGen, ELK Studios, Thunderkick, 1×2 Gaming and nearly 40 third-party suppliers, such as Amaya or Ainsworth and many others.
Thus, when you filter games according to the provider at many online casinos, you’ll find that games such as Esqueleto Esplosivo, Great White Elk or Arcader are listed under NYX Interactive, even though you may be aware that they were actually produced by ELK Studios, NextGen Gaming and Thunderkick, respectively.
NYX supplies their OGS and OPS to about 200 online casinos worldwide, which is why their games are so widely accessible and well-known.
Instead of developing their own games, NYX concentrated on providing a flexible platform that could be used across a range of products and integrate many different types of games from many different developers.
The OGS also means that operators to seamlessly integrate different products such as Casino, Bingo, Poker, Lottery and Sportsbetting (OpenBet) as well as Social Gaming, all of which are also offered by NYX.
NYX now supplies more than 600 games from all different genres to its casinos. Of course, a majority of these games are slots, but you’ll find plenty of casino table games, poker games and bingo as well as lottery games among them.
OPS, or their Open Product System, ensures that NYX products can be accessed not just via a desktop computer, but mobile and as land-based versions in brick-and-mortar casinos as well. NYX calls that their ‘Omni Channel Delivery’, proving that their platform is incredibly flexible.
Needless to say that NYX also has a mobile platform, which is called NYX Move. The platform is able to run a large variety of NYX games, whether they were produced in-house or by one of their third-party suppliers.
Move works just as well on smartphones as it does on tablets and it is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
Mobile versions of desktop games get to retain the same functionality and gameplay, but NYX ensures that the games are adapted for the smaller screen, which also means some features and buttons get different designs to accommodate the touch screen and small screen sizes.
Since NYX works with so many well-established and reputable online casinos, you’ll see their slots and other games featured just about everywhere. We’ve rarely seen specific NYX bonuses, however. On the other hand, NYX games are and have been featured in a range of promotions and often you’ll be able to get your hands on some free spins, especially when new games are released.
NYX-specific promotions are certainly rare and appear to be more something that the competition focuses on. But it’s possible to find promotions at some casinos, where you may get to win some exciting prizes. You may find, though, that the casino is mostly featuring NYX games as part of the promotion, but determines the prizes itself, which has little to do with NYX Interactive itself.
Many online casinos with live tables choose more than one supplier of live games these days. Whilst Evolution Gaming is considered the market leader and offers some of the best tables around, NetEnt’s live tables are no less popular and many casinos offer live games from both providers.
Maria Casino is one such casino, but they make a clear distinction between two providers. Evolution Gaming tables are found in the Casino Grande, whereas NetEnt live tables have been added to Casino Royale.

It just so happens that only days ago NYX announced that it would be bought by Scientific Games. With Scientific Games you have another major player in the iGaming and iLottery industry and it’ll be interesting to see how this takeover will affect NYX and its games and third-party suppliers. NYX is now such an established brand in itself that we doubt the brand will simply be swallowed up by Scientific Games.
We’ll keep an eye on the developments, however, and will update our readers accordingly.
The more licenses a casino has, the merrier we get. So, when an online casino boasts all of three licenses, we feel rather gleeful indeed. There’s simply no way that a casino operation is fraudulent, when the operator has three different licenses, especially when they include one from the UK Gambling Commission.
