Wonder Woods Slot Review
The game has 5 reels and 20 paylines. Released in February 2020, this game can be played at online casinos such as Unibet, CasinoCruise or Royal Panda.
Theme and general information
It’s a little difficult to classify the theme of this game. It could be nature, after all, we are in a forest. But it could also be magic, at least a little bit, though there are no wizards or witches or even fairies. The setting, however, lets you expect some fairies somehow.
It’s pretty enough, though not overly sophisticated and not very special either. The symbols are colourful, though a little washed out, not quite sharp. And the soundtrack is whimsical to a point that you may eventually just mute it.
In any case, the reel symbols are surprisingly classic. Besides the low value playing card symbols from J to A, we get cherries, grapes and oranges. The game’s logo is the most valuable symbol at 20x our stake for five of a kind.
There’s also a wild that simply says WILD and a star with FREE SPINS written across. Annoyingly, when the first scatter lands with a potential for more, we get a shout of “free spins” in the background. Only when a scatter lands on reel four or five without a chance to launch the free spins, the shouting doesn’t occur.
You can play this game from 0.10 to 100.00 per spin.
Mystery Symbols in the base game
The other symbol to look out for is the rainbow question mark. It’s the mystery symbol in the game and can randomly land anywhere on the reels. After a spin is completed, the mystery symbol will turn into one random reel symbol, including wilds but excepting the scatter.
Often, these symbols don’t lead to extra wins, which is mostly the case when mystery symbols are part of a slot. But sometimes they just might.
Sticky Mystery Symbols and Wild Stacks in the free spins
The mystery symbols really come into their own during the free spins. Three, four or five scatters will give us 8, 10 or 12 free spins. Now, whenever a mystery symbol lands on the reels, it becomes sticky. That means it stays in its position for the remainder of the free spins.
Sometimes you may only get one or two. But we’ve seen six or more and when three of them cover a whole reel, that reel will transform to a stack of wilds, which will also be sticky now. That can be cool and yield some decent wins.
It’s not possible to retrigger the free spins and on average you may get them every 150 to 200 spins.
Verdict: A pretty but utterly forgettable slot that fails to excite
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Wonder Woods is 96.03, which is a pretty solid average. It’s nothing to get excited about, but in this medium volatility game it means wins are steady enough that your budget won’t be stretched to the max. In fact, even when it did take us a while to trigger the free spins, our budget held up sufficiently to not leave us worried.
Still, the maximum potential of this slot is 400x our stake and from what we’ve seen, no more is possible. During a good run, we managed nearly 90x our stake during the free spins, which was satisfying enough all things considered.
But overall this slot, which doesn’t even have a theme you could pin down, is utterly forgettable. It’s mediocre in every aspect and ultimately fails to excite. You’re welcome to give it a try once, but don’t blame us if you never return to it afterwards.
