Well of Wishes Slot Review

Well of Wishes is a video slot from Red Tiger gaming in-house developer R7 who are also responsible for Devil’s Number. Released in September 2019, this 5-reel 10-payline slot can be played at online casinos such as Casumo, Rizk or LeoVegas.

Theme and basic information

Well of Wishes brings us an Irish theme and thus, green is the prevailing colour on the reels. The background shows us a field of clovers and looks just a little bit boring as there’s no depth to it. The soundtrack is also typically Irish and so are the symbols on the reels. We get a rabbit’s foot, a pouch (perhaps full of gold coins?) a horseshoe and a four-leaf clover. The playing card symbols from 10 to A look a little generic, but that’s not unusual.

There’s a coin that lands on the reels, which acts as a wild. The scatter is the ‘Lucky Spins’ symbol, which can land anywhere on the reels.

Well of Wishes is not the most exciting or intricate looking slot, but it’s alright and it fits the main feature rather well.

The rabbit’s foot is the most valuable of symbols, paying out 30x our stake for 5 on a payline. The pouch pays out 10x our stake for such a win and the horseshoe is still worth 8x our stake.

You can play this game from 0.20 per spin to 20.00 per spin at most casinos.

The Wishing Well

The main feature in this game is the Wishing Well. The coins that land on the reels act as wild in winning combinations, but they are also collected at the top of the reels. Whenever you have collected five of them, the Wishing Well will show up, which is quite charming.

One of the symbols currently on the screen will then pop out of the well and transform into a wild symbol. That is, all instances of that symbol will turn wild. Sometimes you may even get a second symbol transforming into a wild.

In every instance it happened to us, the additional wilds always resulted in a winning combination.

Free spins with more symbol transformations

Land one or two scatters on the reels and they are held for another spin to give you another chance at landing another one or two scatters. If you had one and you get one more, both symbols are held in place for another spin.

Whilst this happens fairly often, it very rarely results in catching the required scatters to finally launch the free spins.

During the free spins, once you do activate them, the Wishing Well feature remains active. Whenever you collect 5 coins, you will get a symbol transformation as well as additional free spins. Further transformations are possible if you manage to activate the Wishing Well again. All transformed symbols stay transformed for the remaining spins. Additionally, symbols such as the rabbit’s foot appear stacked now, which could result in stacks of wilds if it is among the transformed symbols.

Wins of up to almost 5,500x our bet are possible here.

Conclusion: An entertaining but highly volatile slot

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Well of Wishes is 95.66%, which is below average. Considering that this is quite a volatile slot, the RTP seems hardly worth playing this game. And it wasn’t all that easy to trigger the free spins, leaving us frustrated for many hundred spins.

So, should you play this game anyway? Well, it’s a decent enough setup and the Wishing Well brings in regular wins, even though they are unlikely to make up for the losses. If you love taking some risks and have an eye on the big potential payouts, you may want to give this one a go. But you may not want to come back to it later since the game is slightly forgettable, even though it can entertain you for a little while.
