Vault of Anubis is a video slot from Red Tiger with 7 reels and 5 or 6 rows. This is a cluster pay slot, which was released in March 2020 and can be played at online casinos such as Rizk, Casumo or ComeOn!
Ancient Egypt is one of Red Tiger’s favourite themes. They’ve made plenty of slots and in the last one, we’ve noted how much better they can do in the graphics department if only they set their mind to it. Granted, Wings of Ra was technically an R7 slot developed for Red Tiger. In Vault of Anubis we get to see once again just how well the graphics department does work and we get a great-looking slot to play.
It would appear we’re in some sort of temple, where a few stairs lead up to the grid of symbols. Flanked by massive Anubis statues, three fires give us a dim light, which makes the whole scene look foreboding. The somewhat grim background music underscores the atmosphere.
The symbols fit the theme nicely. The low value symbols all look like Egyptian emblems, which receive an added card suit symbol (hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs), which makes them look far less generic than we have often seen. Nicely done.
The high value symbols are the scarab, a crook and flail, a Horus eye and a golden Anubis. They’re worth between 225x to 750x our stake for 30 or more symbols on the grid.
You can play this game from 0.10 to 150.00 per spin.
This is a cluster pay slot, which means clusters of at least five matching symbols aligned horizontally or vertically will form a win. Then the winning symbols are removed to make room for new symbols to fall in from above and create more wins. In the base game there’s no multiplier.
However, there are super symbols that the high value symbols can feature as. They are either 2×2 or 3×3 symbols big and can help form extra wins.
Finally, the Generous Gods feature can drop extra wild across the grid and help form some more wins. This feature is active in the base game and in the free spins.
The free spins or Vault Spins are not that easy to trigger. Above the three middle reels (which are therefore only 5 rows high), a ‘vault’ is situated. Here you collect the Vault symbols that land on the reels. Often, you’ll only land two such scatters in a single spin. Only cascading wins that make room for new symbols usually help to catch two extra scatters to fill up the vault and finally launch the Vault Spins. We start off with 10 free spins.
Now we get a multiplier that climbs by 1x after each cascading win. Should a cascade end, it does not reset but is kept instead and increases on the next win once more. There are also extra “Spin” symbols that land on the reels and increase our spin counter by +1 each time.
During the free spins the multiplier can theoretically climb indefinitely. The super symbols are active, and we also get extra wilds if we are lucky.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Vault of Anubis is 95.74%, which is average for Red Tiger. This slot offers a medium to high volatility and a maximum potential of 5,469x our stake if everything lines up in our favour.
Vault of Anubis from Red Tiger is a good-looking slot and one of the better once released in recent months. The features work well, the math model for the slot is alright and it even works nicely as a grid slot.
That said, the slot is a tough nut to crack. Triggering the free spins for the first time took forever since we barely even managed to get a third scatter on the reels let alone a fourth. And then we were not exactly overwhelmed with the free spins either. The multiplier helps, but it’s still slow going until some decent wins accumulate.
So, if you find yourself unlucky when playing this game, move onto something else. But if the gods do smile upon you, be happy and enjoy whatever rewards they heap on you.
