With Trolls Bridge we get a fantasy theme from Yggdrasil Gaming. We’re looking at a fantasy world just before the bridge is drawn and on that drawn bridge, the reels spin away. There’s no getting past these trolls easily.
The graphics are great, as usual. Drawn in a cartoon style, these trolls don’t look as scary as they’re made out to be. Indeed, we consider them quirky oddballs, if anything. And the soundtrack is very fitting to the theme.
The red-haired troll pays out the most in this slot, giving us 250x our stake for a 5-of-a-kind win. The purple-haired troll pays out 175x our stake for such a winning combination and the one before the green background pays 150 times. The younger troll is worth 125x our stake. The card suit symbols (hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades) correspond in colour with the trolls and are worth between 50x and 75x our stake, if you get five on a payline.
You can play this slot from €0.20 (or €0.25 with the golden bet active) to €200 (or €250 with the golden bet active). That makes this game suitable for all budgets.
To begin with: before playing you have to decide whether you want to play with the golden bet feature or not. Activate it and you pay 5 coins more on your stake for the added benefit of picking an additional feature during the free spins. Also, the RTP changes from 96% to 96.3%, making it a worthwhile investment.
Two features keep the bonus game interesting and they’re very random. On any non-winning spin, for instance, the Bonus Stone could hit the drawn troll bridge (i.e. the reels) and leave a random coin win behind (between 100 and 1,000 coins). On a winning spin, that same Bonus Stone could leave a multiplier of up to 5x.
On reel 5, a Bonus Pot may land and leave coin wins from 40 to 1,000 coins or activate the free spins. We received free spins as well as bonus coins whilst we played this slot, winning either seems just about as likely. You won’t see the Bonus Pot more than once every 50 spins, however, if that.
You activate the free spins either via the Bonus Pot or by collecting at least 3 scatters on the reels. You can get up to 5 scatters, of course, which will give you more spins and more feature picks.
Before the free spins begin, you get to pick among a bunch of cards to add various features to your free spins. Here’s what you can get:
You may actually get a win on every spin with the right combination of features. But we usually haven’t seen particularly big wins here.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Trolls Bridge is 96% without the Golden Bet and 96.3% with the Golden Bet. Needless to say, it’s better to play with the Golden Bet, even though it will cost a little extra on each spin.
Trolls Bridge is a lot of fun in many ways. The trolls are amusing, especially when you land them on a winning line and they show their antics. Wins are frequent enough, though never really big. You’ll have to be very lucky or very patient, to win big in this game. Whilst we had fun with the game, we left a little frustrated because even during the free spins we didn’t win much beyond 30x our stake. If you need something that hits a little harder, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
