Whilst Triple Dragons doesn’t have fruits on the reels, it looks very much like a classic slot machine. The reels themselves are framed by what looks like a classic slot. Blinking payout symbols are shown above the reels, informing us of the value of 3-of-a-kind wins of each symbol and even the background music is reminiscent of brick-and-mortar slot machines.
Beyond that we get a Chinese theme. The main symbol is the Chinese Dragon, which is worth 60x your stake in a 3-of-a-kind win. The peach is worth 40x for such a winning combination and the purse 20x. The drums are still worth 10x.
Finally, we get the card suit symbols (hearts, clubs, diamonds and spades) that are each worth 3x our stake.
It’s a simple game, which makes the basic gameplay indeed very basic. You can set your coins from €0.05 to €50, making this a mid-range slot. Then set the number of spins you want to make on auto-play, including loss limits or win limits and decide if you’re happy to spin away at normal speed or if it should be a bit faster or even superfast and away you go.
This is a very volatile slot, so wins are few and rarely big. You’ll wait for the Dragon to appear stacked on any of the reels, which will activate the only feature this game offers.
The bonus feature in Triple Dragons is triggered when the Dragon lands stacked on any of the reels. The Dragon then actually becomes fully wild and you’re awarded re-spins. The Wild Dragon reel is locked in place and the re-spins continue until a win is awarded. So, you might get one re-spin or five or even more, depending on how long it takes for the reels to align in your favour.
We’ve experienced handsome wins with this feature, but it doesn’t make frequent appearances.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Triple Dragons is 96.51%. That’s incredibly good value considering just how very volatile this slot is. It will probably take a lot of patience to feel as if you’re getting anything back from this slot. Or perhaps it just takes a little luck.
Triple Dragons is a simple slot. You only get 3 reels, 5 paylines and one feature. And there are plenty of slot players who like it that way. So, it’s great that this type of slot is still being developed by Pragmatic Play and others. But the game won’t be for everyone, which is okay. It’s not meant to be. Most slots aren’t able to reach or satisfy everyone. If you do like it classic and volatile and don’t mind budgeting a little in order to get anywhere, then give Triple Dragons a spin and see how you like it.
