With Ticket to the Stars we get a retro space travel theme. Think back to the 50s or 60s when there was still a vision of human kind one day travelling as easily to the stars as we fly between continents. There’s the dashing pilot, a pretty and competent flight attendant, a robot servant and a space ship where we take our seats like we do on an airplane. The luggage is stowed away, a drink awaits and just an overall pleasant experience.
That’s Ticket to the Stars in a nutshell and boy, Quickspin made it a beautiful slot. It’s just a pleasure to look at it, with the space ship waiting in the background and passengers getting ready. The colours are pleasing, and the soundtrack is light and spacey, fitting to the theme and atmosphere.
On the reels, you’ll find the aforementioned dashing pilot as the most valuable symbol, who gives us 20x our stake for a 5-of-a-kind win. The female flight attendant still pays out 16x our stake for such a winning combination and the robot servant pays out 12x our stake. The bottle of champagne and the suitcase pay out 8x and 6x our stake, respectively. The remaining five symbols are light-coloured gemstones.
The Wild, which is a golden ticket, also pays out 20x our stake, if you get 5 on a winning line.
You can play this slot from €0.25 to €100.
The Wild, by the way, always shows up stacked on the reels. You can see the golden strips run past the reels, where they come to a half every so often. They don’t always create wins, but they certainly help. Especially in combination with the Swooping Reels.
That’s what Quickspin calls their cascading wins. Whenever a winning combination arrives on the reels, the symbols that are part of that win are swooped away (so to speak), making room for more symbols from above, hopefully creating further wins. Here, the Wild can come in handy, because you will almost certainly get more wilds from above as the stacks are usually higher than just the three visible symbols on the reels.
In many ways, Ticket to the Stars is a simple game. You trigger the free spins by collecting at least three bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. You then receive 15 free spins, which is already pretty good to start with. Four bonus symbols will give you 20 free spins, and five bonus symbols will come with 25 free spins.
The stacked Wilds and Swooping Reels remain in effect, which is hugely beneficial now. Plus, on the left-hand side a multiplier counter appears. On every third win, the counter goes up by 1x, adding up the multiplier, and you get 2 more free spins.
Ticket to the Stars might be volatile, but it is not so volatile that you won’t be able to add at least 2 or 4 more spins to the ones you started out with. Thanks to the Swooping Reels and stacked Wilds, we’ve seen some awesome wins here, playing easily more than 20 free spins and getting up to a 6x multiplier once.
And more is possible. There’s no limit to how high the multiplier can climb or how many extra spins you can collect. Keep getting those three wins (they don’t even have to be consecutive) and the counter keeps climbing.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Ticket to the Stars is 96.52%, which is well above average and great value. Despite being volatile, after a few successful runs during the free spins, we certainly felt like winners when playing Ticket to the Stars. When you walk away with over 120x your stake during the free spins, you will sport a pretty big smile.
Honestly, we loved this slot right away. The theme is beautifully rendered, the gameplay is easy but super effective and despite its volatility, this slot doesn’t suck your funds dry. You do have to budget a bit if you don’t hit the free spins soon. But we found that we triggered the free spins at least once every 100 spins. Or perhaps we were lucky. Sometimes that’s difficult to tell. We certainly felt lucky. You just always have to be careful with volatile slots. But if you get a good run here, you’ll definitely love Ticket to the Stars as well.
