The Wild Chase: Tokyo Go is the sequel to Quickspin’s very successful slot Wild Chase. Back then, a handsome trio of thieves was planning a heist at the French Riviera before retiring. But now they are back once more. This time, they are chasing riches in Tokyo. Clearly, the lavish lifestyle requires them to replenish their funds.
The scenery is impressive. We’re racing along the streets of Tokyo in our orange Lamborghini. The cityscape changes as we rush along and the soundtrack is exciting, which adds to the atmosphere.
Once more we get the handsome guy on the reels along with two attractive ladies and a motorcycle policewoman. The lower value symbols are a champagne bottle in a cooler, a watch, a diamond ring, a pouch filled with diamonds and gold bars. The Tokyo Go logo is the wild.
Our handsome guy is worth 2.5x our stake for a win of 5 of a kind. The red head is worth the same for such a win. The Asian lady and the policewoman are both worth 1.5x our stake for 5 on a payline. The lower value symbols are worth between 1x and 1.25x our stake for 5 of a kind.
You can play this game from 0.20 per spin to 100.00 per spin.
The reel setup is quite a departure form the original game. We start off with a 3x3x4x4x5 grid and 76 paylines.
With every win, however, the winning combination is held in place, the reels move left (which means the symbols on reel 1 disappear as well) and we get a free re-spin on a 3x4x4x5x5 grid and now 90 paylines.
If more symbols (including wilds) of the winning combination are added to it, the win is paid out and we get another re-spin. The reels expand once more and the paylines as well.
Of course, on a losing spin the reels reset to the original setup and the re-spins end.
If you get 4 consecutive wins and have an expanded reel set of 5×5 symbols and 259 paylines, the Super Re-Spins are triggered. Now the winning combination is fully held in place and all other symbols spin on the reels. If you manage to catch more matching symbols (or wilds), the super re-spins continue.
You get a win paid out at the end of every spin. The reels only reset when you don’t catch any additional matching symbols. A final win is paid out and you’re back with the original setup once more.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for The Wild Chase: Tokyo Go is 96.54%, which is great value. The volatility in this game varies between medium and high, so a careful budget is certainly recommended. The maximum payout is 2,757x our stake.
Tokyo Go looks great and the gameplay is solid. It almost makes you forget that there are no scatters in the game, no free spins or side games. But you do get plenty of re-spins and a realistic chance at seeing the super re-spins as well. We have certainly seen them regularly. And if you get more than one super re-spin, you can also catch some pretty decent wins. We’ve been able to catch between 100x and maybe 150x our stake during the super re-spins.
The fast pace of Tokyo Go helps to keep you interested for a while. But eventually you will have seen it all and it becomes repetitive. You wish for a little more or something slightly different. The car chase during the super re-spins adds a little friction, but you just know that the three attractive thieves are not going to get caught.
So, take this slot out for a spin and when you’ve managed to catch some decent wins, you can always move on to something else.
