Safari King Slot Review
Released in February 2019, you can play this game at online casinos such as Guts, LeoVegas or Unibet.
Theme and basic information
Yes, once again, we get a theme with wild animals of the African savannah on the reels. Elephant, Rhino, Cheetah, Zebra, Gazelle and the Safari King himself, the Lion. The slot is brightly coloured and nicely drawn, though certainly somewhat cartoonish rather than photorealistic as we’ve seen in other slots with the same or at least a similar theme. It’s not as cartoonish as Mega Moolah, mind you.
The background music is strange at best. We don’t know if it wants to emulate African tribe music. It sounds rather too light for that and might be using the wrong type of instruments here. Some birds are also singing their song and occasionally you might hear the wind. Elephants and other animals can be heard when the reels are spinning. It’s quite the cacophony of noises, really.
The elephant is the most valuable symbol in the game, paying out 20x your stake for a 5-of-a-kind win. The rhino still pays out 10x your stake for such a winning combination as does the cheetah. Zebra, gazelle and even the A each pay out 8x your stake for 5 on a payline. The remaining playing card symbols from 9 to K pay out between 3x and 6x your stake here.
The Lion wild is only available on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. And the bonus symbol only lands on reels 1, 3 and 5.
You can play this game from 0.50 to 250.00, making it suitable even for high rollers.
It’s all about the free spins
There’s nothing much happening in the base game of Safari King. You’ll merely spinning away in the hopes of catching three scatters. There are no special features beyond the free spins.
So, the free spins should be were the money is, right? In our experience that is certainly the case. Once you do land three scatters, you’ll receive 8 free spins and a little bonus of 4x your stake. On each spin, Wilds are added to reels 2 to 5. They may or may not land there on the next spin and they may or may not land stacked.
The good thing is, each and every bonus symbol landing on the reels now, will add +1 spin to your tally. This can go on indefinitely, so you could be playing for a very long time. When luck smiles upon you, you’ll receive perhaps another 10 or 15 free spins. And every once in a while, you might land one or two stacks of those wilds, reeling in some great wins.
Our best session ended up winning us 134x our stake in 16 spins. That was definitely awesome and is probably the only reason why we recommend you give this one a try.
Conclusion: A brightly coloured slot that adds nothing new
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Safari King is 96.49%, which is very good value. The slot comes with a medium to sometimes high volatility and wins tend to be a little less frequent and not always big. But when the big wins come, they are more than sufficient. That said, you can win 1,000 your stake in this slot at the most. That’s better than many other games, but not as good as some.
Safari King is not a bad looking slot with a theme that’s neither new nor particularly exciting. The free spin feature also doesn’t add anything new to the fray. And even though we manage some pretty good wins, there are a lot of others slots out there we find more interesting and engaging. If you like the theme, don’t skip this game and move on as long as you’re up on your funds.
