Relic Seekers is a video slot from Pulse Gaming developed for Microgaming with 5 reels and 25 paylines. Released in August 2019, this game can be played in online casinos such as Vera&John, Dunder or LeoVegas.
With Relic Seekers we get another slot of adventurers seeking treasure. Whilst you wouldn’t guess it when first opening up the game, this one is based on the relic knowns as Dragon’s Vein from the times of Huangdi, the famous Yellow Emperor of ancient China.
The symbols on the reels might look vaguely Asian, if you have lots of imagination. The relic seekers, our bunch of adventurers, does not. And there’s a dog for some reason.
The frame of the reels looks pretty cool, though, like a medieval perpetuum.
The characters on the reels are an older professor type guy, a girl with purple hair and pilots googles and a young adventurer. And yes, there’s the dog. The wild symbol is a lantern, which is the most valuable symbol, paying out 42x our stake for 5 of a kind. The three characters pay out between 12x and 18x our stake for such a win. The dog is still worth 11x our stake.
You can play this game from 0.25 per spin to 500.00 per spin. As usual, that may change depending on the casino you’re playing at.
The slot doesn’t have much new to offer when it comes to features. In the base game, the rolling reels or our well-known and popular cascading wins are the most important feature. All the symbols in a winning combination disappear off the reels and make room for new symbols from above, hopefully creating further wins.
This is necessary to give us consecutive wins, which will be collected in a counter on the left-hand side. With each two consecutive wins (beginning at 2, then 4 and finally 6 wins in a row), one of the main characters on the reels will turn into an additional wild. This is a feature we know from other slots such as Big Bad Wolf.
Turning the female into an additional wild is usually not difficult but getting beyond that definitely is.
You need at least three scatters to receive 10 free spins. During the free spins, a special symbol can be collected on reel 5, where it is added to a new counter atop the reels. Once you have collected 3 of those keys, you’ll get another 2 free spins. If you collect another 3 of those keys, you’ll get another 2 free spins and a 2x multiplier that is now applied to all remaining free spin wins.
The characters will turn wild upon consecutive wins during the free spins as well and somehow it seems to be easier here. We’ve managed to get 2 added free spins and turn two characters wild, winning over 90x our stake.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Relic Seekers is 96.03%, which is only average. The slot offers a medium volatility. Getting winning combinations isn’t overly difficult even though wins are rarely big and getting more than one additional wild on the reels seems almost impossible.
Relic Seekers is not the most exciting game we’ve played recently, and it doesn’t bring anything new to the table either. In fact, the features are tried and proven, and the theme is not overly interesting.
We can’t give you a good reason to play this game. It was alright and we did win here and there. But the slot is utterly forgettable and once you tried it out, you will probably not remember it the next time you come back.
