With Star Fall you get another aptly named video slot from Push Gaming that uses one of the main features directly in the title. But first things first. Here we have another more or less classic fruit machine that offers one or two twists to make things more interesting. Aside from some low-paying standard playing card symbols, we also get the usual assortment of fruit machine symbols such as grapes, cherries, melons and lemons as well as a bell and a diamond. The latter is, naturally, the highest paying symbol.

The gold star is the wild, which appears on the three middle reels and is responsible for one of the two main features, the Wild Nudge. Whenever the wild appears, it’ll pay out a win, if one lines up, and then it gets nudged one position down to hopefully create another win. Depending on where the wild (or wilds) land on the reels, the nudge may occur up to three times, until it disappears off the reels.

The gold coin is the scatter symbol and it only appears stacked on the middle reel. The stack has to show up fully for the free spins to be triggered. When they are about to make an appearance, the reel will slow down dramatically, and the coin stack will land fully or partially on the reel. More often than not it will only land there partially and the spins continue as usual. But when the free spins are triggered, you’ll receive 6 of them.

You’ll notice three meters above the three middle reels. Here you can collect further scatter gold coins that randomly land on the middle three reels. Once the meter above a reel is full, that reel will turn fully wild and remain locked into place. It’s entirely possible to collect enough coins to turn all three middle reels wild for at least the very last spin. That will inevitably result in a fantastic win, which we were lucky enough to experience. But we also had a free spin round where we didn’t win anything at all despite turning one reel completely wild. Such is the nature of slot games. You win some, you lose some.

By the way, the Wild Nudge remains active during free spins, but you’ll be more focussed looking out for those gold coins to actually notice it.

The theoretical RTP (return to player) for Star Fall is 96.61%, which is very good indeed. The slot is not very exciting in terms or theme or looks. We’ve seen it done better and more interesting before, even by Push Gaming themselves, who have given us Wild Neon as well. But the features are neat and occur often enough to make the time spinning away at the reels worthwhile. During 200 spins we’ve seen the free spin feature triggered at least half a dozen times, which is definitely a good average. Whilst it can be very hit and miss, and we have experienced both, the slot offers up such a good theoretical return that it is more than worthwhile for you to try it out. Ultimately, it’s more likely that the theme bores you than the lack of features or the frequency of their appearance.
