Theme and game basics

The Jumanji online slot is based on the 1995 cult movie and emulates the name-giving game of the movie perfectly. Even the layout of the reels makes us look down on the board game and it looks fantastic. The details are incredible and very well done. You get squirly monkeys in the lower left-hand corner, book cases that rhinos storm out of in the upper left-hand corner, a cupboard that vines and a huge flesh-eating plant emerge from in the upper right-hand corner and a staircase and a chandelier in the lower right-hand corner. The set-up looks great and it’s almost more interesting than the reel symbols.
There you get lion, crocodile, rhino and pelican as the high-paying symbols, though the lion is by far the most valuable at 140 coins for a 5-of-a-kind win, whereas the other three only offer 50, 30 or 25 coins for such a win. Playing card symbols stand in as the low values of the game. Additionally, we get a Jumanji case as the scatter symbol and a simple Wild symbol as well.

Gameplay and features

NetEnt did an absolutely superb job with the features in the game, starting in the base game already, where four random bonuses may be triggered at any time.
Sticky Vines – here the vines emerge from the cupboard and hold onto the first winning combination that presents itself. You’ll get re-spins as long as more symbols of the same kind appear, which are held in place by the vines as well. The feature ends when no more new symbols appear, or the reels are full of them.
Monkey Mayhem – here the monkeys jump off of their cupboard and underneath the reels, grabbing the symbols and reshuffling them in order to give you a guaranteed winning combination. It may not be much, but the way it’s been done is very entertaining.
Wild Stampede – Here the rhinos stampede from their corner of the board, leaving wilds all over the reels (between 4 and 9). The biggest wins we got were during this feature.
Monsoon Wilds – in a fantastic looking sequence a huge wave crashes onto the reels, leaving 1 or 2 reels completely wild.
Once you trigger the bonus game, things get really interesting. You need at least three scatters to activate the bonus game. That’ll give you 6 dice rolls. Four scatters will give you 7 rolls, and five will give you 8 rolls. Now you’ll be really getting into the playing the board game. Pick one of the figures and roll the dice. On every roll you can get coin prizes, extra rolls, one of the 4 free spin features or a mystery feature. You will usually end up triggering one of the 4 free spin features as well, but that’s not guaranteed. Sometimes you only get a few coin prizes and that’s that.

Truth be told, the stampede is the best of those features, especially when loads of Wilds land on the reels.
