Lightning Joker Slot Review
Released in June 2020, this game can be played at online casinos such as Rizk, ComeOn! or Unibet.
Theme and general information
It’s rare the Yggdrasil Gaming delivers a classic fruit machine, but this is exactly what we get with Lightning Joker. Normally, Play’n GO tend to be the experts in this area, but Yggdrasil knows to deliver well-crafted slots as well.
That said, when you open up Lightning Joker, you may be somewhat underwhelmed by the graphics in this game. We’re used to much more sophisticated and detailed slots from the developer with epic themes and characters. Here we get a somewhat plain pink and purple background along with the usual set of fruit machine symbols that we can guess at without even having played the game.
Unsurprisingly, we get cherries, lemons, grapes and melons as low values between 4x and 7x our stake for 3 on a payline. Higher values are the bells, 7s and stars, which range from 15x to 25x our stake for 3 across a payline. The Wild, which is a nice addition in a classic slot, is worth 80x our stake for 3 of its kind.
The female Joker is the most charming of all symbols and always a welcome sight on the reels. She functions as a scatter of sorts, triggering one of the features.
You can play this game from 0.10 to 50.00 per spin.
Three features to liven up the gameplay
Fruit slots rarely offer much in terms of diverse gameplay. Often, we get just one main feature and are otherwise simply spinning the reels. In this game we are blessed with three features. And whilst quite simple, they can be quite effective as well.
Rapid Re-Spin – Whenever we get two stacks of matching symbols (including wilds) on the reels, the third reel gets a single re-spin, giving us another chance to generate a win.
Multiplier Strike – This feature only follows when the Rapid Re-Spin was successful and landed another full reel of matching symbols. In that case, lightning may strike and give us a random multiplier somewhere between 2x and 10x.
Mystery Win – Whenever the Joker lands at least twice on the reels, a Mystery Win is awarded, which gives us a coin win to top up our funds. There are three options as to how much we get depending on the number of Jokers and how they are aligned:
- 2 Jokers = a win between 2x and 10,000x your bet
- 3 Jokers anywhere on the reels = a win between 100x and 10,000x your stake
- 3 Jokers aligned on a payline = a win between 1,000x and 10,000x your stake
Verdict: A surprisingly entertaining fruit slots with great potential
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Lightning Joker is 96.3%, which is great, though this is a highly volatile slot with a hit frequency of only 17.6%. Careful budgeting is therefore recommended.
That said, the features actually strike often enough to keep things interesting. Whilst the Mystery Win rarely bags you more than 2x to perhaps 20x your stake, it is still great when it happens and the potential for more is definitely there.
Lightning Joker may not appeal to those who generally don’t like fruit slots. The game has a fairly simplistic look and the features are also on the simple side, even if they can be quite effective.
It’s a solid game that can entertain if you like fruit slots, of course, and the potential of 10,000x your stake is certainly worth a second look.
