Theme and general information

Leprechaun’s Magic does not hold back when it comes to the Leprechaun or Luck of the Irish theme. They rarely do with such themes. So, if green is your colour, you’ll feel right at home here.

We’re in a green meadow, there’s the hint of a waterfall in the distance, lush greens and lanterns that give off a pleasant evening glow. The soundtrack also suits the theme and may just get a little obnoxious over time. Still, it’s all nicely done even though it doesn’t blow us away.

On the reels, we get the low value playing card symbols from 10 to A, all which are decorated with Celtic patterns. The high value symbols, very unsurprisingly, are pipe, horseshoe, top hat and the Leprechaun himself. He pays out 500x our stake for 5 of a kind, which is impressive. The horseshoe is still worth 200x our stake for such a win.

There is a scatter but no wild symbol in the game.

Golden Symbols that can expand

Expanding symbols and scatter pays are nothing new. Both are featured in this slot but they way it works in Leprechaun’s Magic is about the only original idea the developers had. Not that that’s a bad thing.

Whenever a symbol becomes part of a win, it will turn gold on the very next spin. Should three or more of them land (except the Leprechaun who only needs two) anywhere on the reels, these new golden symbols will expand on their reels and pay out as a scatter.

During the base game, golden symbols will only be golden for one spin.

A Magic Wheel for Magic Free Spins

Three scatters will trigger the Magic Wheel, which we need to spin to determine how many free spins we kick off the bonus round with. The minimum is 4, but if we land there, we do actually get another spin. The other segments give us between 6 and 16 free spins, so it’s not a bad thing to land on the 4 as we will have a better chance at scoring at least 10 free spins.

Also, if we triggered the Magic Wheel with 4 or 5 scatters, we get 4 or 8 free spins on top.

During the free spins, any symbols that become part of a win will turn golden and they will remain so for the remainder of the free spins. That increases the chance for expanding wins on every spin and, in theory, we could turn all symbols golden in the end.

Verdict: Not the most outstanding Leprechaun Slot but the wins can be great

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Leprechaun’s Magic is 95.95%, which isn’t too bad at all, considering where Red Tiger slots have been lately. The volatility sits at the highest level however, and the potential maximum win is more than 5,000x our stake, which is good.

As we’ve said, it’s a pleasant enough slot, which is well-executed but not very original at all. The Golden Symbols in the base game and keeping them in the free spins is great, though. And with a little luck, you can easily play 20 or more free spins. We did! And managed to walk away with 385x our stake in a single free spin session.
