Finn’s Golden Tavern Slot Review
Released in December 2019, this game can be played at online casinos such as Mr Green, Unibet or LeoVegas.
Theme and general information
Finn is back with his swirly spins, though this time it’s not a bright and lively slot. Instead, Finn appears to have taken to booze and we’re inside a rather dark tavern, looking down on a table covered with a flute, candles, a compass, some dice and a tankard full of ale to the left. The details are beautifully done and there is a lot to discover. The graphics are great and we like them more than the original slot.
Music is played in the background and we can hear typical noises that you would associate with a tavern or bar. Finn is also shouting something at us every once in a while.
The whole thing is somewhat more subdued than the original. And it’s not just a classic Irish theme either. We get some pirate vibes here, especially since the little Star wild wears an eye patch as well. And the 5×5 grid of symbols look like a map, where the X marks the middle.
On said reels, we find various bottles with various liquors and other types of alcohol. There are also gold coins with assorted value that combine to winning combinations and pay out the value of each coin. At least three symbols aligning on the grid horizontally or vertically will form a win.
All four beverage containers are worth 5x our stake for 5 of a kind.
Wilds are left behind whenever three of the high value symbols form a win and disappear. Since we get the swirly spin mechanics in this slot as well. This means once winning symbols are removed, the remaining symbols (and possible new wilds) will move inwards, realigning all remaining symbols on the grid and potentially triggering new wins. When no new winning combinations appear, the grid resets, and the treasure chest scatter returns to its initial position.
You can play this game from 0.10 to an incredible 500.00 per spin.
Two random features in the base game
There are two features in the base game that can be triggered fairly randomly. On a non-winning spin, Finn’s fist may be slammed into the table, realigning some of the symbols to form a winning combination. This is called the Fist Slam.
The other feature is the Random Coin feature, which can be triggered whenever the treasure chest symbol is in the direct loop of symbols around the centre. Symbols are turned into coins to form a winning combination.
Free spins with multipliers
The free spins are triggered when the treasure chest scatter is finally moved to the centre of the reels. We get 5 free spins and the wilds are counted in a wild meter. For every 5 wilds that are formed on the reels and counted in the meter, the multiplier climbs by 1x.
If we manage to move the treasure chest scatter into the middle of the grid once more, we get more free spins. At this point, the Coin Bonus feature adds coins to the grid, which are assigned random values and are all paid out.
Conclusion: A less complicated and more entertaining sequel
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Finn’s Golden Tavern is 96.1%, which is just about average and decidedly less than the prequel offered at 96.62%. But the game is also fairly low in volatility and wins tend to be relatively frequent albeit low.
We managed to trigger the free spins about every 200 spins or so, which is not great but could be worse. And some decent wins were possible here, though this is not a particularly high potential game. You can a maximum estimated payout of 2,000x our stake, which you are probably never going to see.
On the whole, Finn’s Golden Tavern is a lot less complicated than the prequel and somehow that makes it more entertaining because it is less confusing. Despite the much darker atmosphere, this game can keep you playing for a few hundred spins before you move on.
