Devil’s Number Slot Review

Devil’s Number is a video slot from Red Tiger Gaming with 5 reels and 30 paylines. Released in April 2019, you can play this game at online casinos such as UnibetLeoVegas or Guts.

Theme and basic information

Devil’s Number takes us into a dark and mysterious library. Whilst there’s no magic happening, it’s a theme easily associated with the Dark Arts, otherwise known as Black Magic.

The graphics are a lot less sophisticated than what we’ve seen of Red Tiger lately. Instead we’re getting comic-style visuals, which looks good but isn’t anything special.

The background sound is dark and mysterious and fits in well with the atmosphere of the game.

On the reels we get a creepy cauldron, a magic book, three skulls and scrolls. The low-paying symbols are 10 to A.

The three skulls are the highest paying symbol and give us 360 coins for a win of 5 of a kind. In upgrade mode, we get 666 coins for such a win. The other three high-value symbols pay between 120 and 180 coins for such a winning combination, whilst you get twice that for a win in upgrade mode.

You can play this game from 0.10 to 200.00.

Upgrades and removals in the base game

During the base game, you are going to hope for the ‘mark of the beast’ to burn during a winning spin – any winning spin, really. If you get a win with the high-value symbols, the mark will result in a symbol upgrade, which means the winning symbols will pay out the upgraded value for that current spin.

Should the mark burn on a win with the low-value symbols, you’ll get your wins paid out and then the symbols of the win will be removed in a cascading win, making room for more symbols falling from above and hopefully further wins.

The mark doesn’t burn often, but enough to keep you going in the base game.

Free spins packing a punch

The free spins are triggered when three 9 land on the reels somewhere. They will then spin around and reveal themselves to be 6. They combine to the number 666 and you get 12 free spins.

Now you will see the upgrade and removal symbols above the reels. Whenever you score a win with any of those symbols, they will be added to the counter above and will then either be upgraded or removed for the remainder of the free spins. You could, in theory, end up with all low-value symbols removed and only high-value symbols in upgraded mode on the reels.

Three additional 9 scatters would give you a further 6 free spins.

Conclusion: A simple but effective slot

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Devil’s Number is 96.06%, which is really just average. The volatility of this slot can be very high, and you’ll have to budget carefully to make it to the free spins. The base game feature simply doesn’t hit often enough to keep you going should you decide to bet more.

Once the free spins hit, you will be able to remove at least two or three of the low-value symbols and add at least one upgrade. This can be very effective for decent wins, though triggering another 6 free spins would be your best option and scoring really well here.

Devil’s Number is not a complicated slot, whether in mechanics or looks, but it is quite effective and playable at least for a little while.
