Demon is the name of a heavy metal band from Britain. Apparently, it’s been around for many years already and has recycled tons of members during those years. According to Wikipedia, they were also quite influential in the New Wave of Heavy Metal, alongside Motorhead, Iron Maiden and other big names. Where this claim comes from, we don’t know. And since the band is not widely known, we have our doubts.

It also makes us wonder a little why Play’n GO chose them to feature in an exclusive slot. When they created the Sabaton slot, people at least knew who that was. But with Demon only a small fan base seems to exist and potentially find this theme interesting.

Regardless, if you are into heavy metal or hellish imagery, Demon is still an interesting slot for you to check out. The setting is very clear in hell and the fans rocking out to the music (we even get a playlist of 7 songs plus an exclusive song that is unlocked after 100 paid spins) are waiving pitchforks for all we can tell.

Visually, Play’n GO manages to impress as usual. The symbols on the reels include a masked demon, a gargoyle, a female stone figure, a bloody cross and gothic looking playing card symbols from 10 to A.

The highest-value regular symbol is the lead singer, who pays 10x our stake for 5 on a payline. The bloody cross is worth 8.3x our stake for such a win and the gargoyle pays out 6.6x our stake.

The Baphomet wild, however, is worth 16.66x our stake for 5 of its kind.

Two Wild Symbols and Wild Transformations

There are two wild symbols in the game. The already mentioned Baphomet Wild has the highest payout for 5 of its kind. Considering that this symbol only lands on the middle reel, one wonders how you might end up with three or more.

Well, this is where the Wild Transformations kick in. When the Baphomet wild lands on the middle reel and the lead singer symbol can be found anywhere on the reels, he will transform into additional wilds, but only if a win is possible. That’s how you could end up with up to 5 of these on the reels in the base game, which could trigger good wins.

The other wild symbol is the Eye Amulet, which can be found on reels 1 and 5. It will act as a wild in its position, but it can’t transform any other symbols into additional wilds. It is crucial in triggering the free spins, though.

Free Spins and Hell Spins

If both types of wild symbols land on reels 1, 3 and 5, you will trigger the free spins. If the Baphomet wild lands in the middle position of reel 3, you get 11 free spins. Otherwise you’ll be awarded 6 free spins.

Now a multiplier wheel sits atop the reels, which spins randomly on every spin and awards the multiplier it stops on for any applicable wins. The wheel can give out multipliers between 2x and 8x our stake.

If you land two more Eye Amulets during the free spins, you get between 4 and 8 Hell Spins awarded. They are like a free spin feature within the free spin feature. The special feature here is that the multiplier that was active during the triggering spin will now be set and apply to all wins during the Hell Spins.

If the Hell Spins are activated with the Baphomet wild on reel 3 as well, you receive between 6 and 10 Hell Spins and the multiplier will be doubled at the beginning.

It’s possible to re-trigger the Hell Spins, though you can only double the multiplier once.

When the Hell Spins are all played out, the normal free spins will continue again.

Conclusion: A volatile slot about a band nobody has ever heard of

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Demon is 96.5%, though it can be lowered to as little as 94.5% by casinos. Of course, this is another volatile Play’n GO offering. Personally, whilst we have never heard of Demon before, we like the slot at least visually. It’s pretty cool and well executed. We certainly prefer to the glorification of weapons and war in Sabaton.

The base game lives from the music and the Wild Transformations, which are not something you’ll see frequently. But every now and then you might get some decent wins. Whilst the winning potential in this game is 2,500x our stake, we didn’t see big wins here and it’s nowhere near what other Play’n GO slots have to offer. Fans of the band will likely want to check this slot out, especially for the soundtrack. But everyone else might try it once and move on to something more mainstream.
