You’ll be forgiven, if Big Bot Crew reminds you of the wonderful animated movie Big Hero 6. The setting is similar, in a futuristic city, a sprawling megalopolis. Tech savvy kids on the reels and a big armed red robot that even bears some resemblance to the armour that the big robot wore in Big Hero 6.
The graphics are very well done, as always with Quickspin games. The soundtrack fits with the theme as well and this is definitely a charming slot that has great entertainment value. The appearance of the big red robot is always a great event, delivering awesome special effects on the reels.
Similarities aside, we wouldn’t call this a rip-off and would rather consider it a homage to the great movie. The heroes of this game are Matsuo, Danielle and Joaquin, who are building robots. They’re the high-value symbols on the reels, paying out 7.5x, 5x and 3x our bet for a 5-of-a-kind win, respectively. Two small helper robots each pay 2x our bet for such a winning combination.
The remaining four symbols are gears and discs, adding to the overall technical theme.
You can play this game from 0.20 to 100.00.
The big red robot is actually the wild in the game. And he is generally stacked 4 high, though obviously he doesn’t always land stacked. He is present on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game and whenever he doesn’t land stacked, a nudge might help along here and move the robot up or down to cover the whole reel.
Whenever you land two wilds on the reels and manage to get them to fully cover their reels, you activate the re-spins. You get as many re-spins as there are wilds on the reels, meaning you usually start off with two. When the re-spins commence, the robots will take off from their reels, fly around and land on different reels, which they cover completely, of course. This happens for each re-spin. Should more wilds land on the reels during those re-spins, you may get more re-spins awarded and various robots flying around between reels.
Free spins are activated when you get three scatters on the reels. The scatters look like some sort of engine and three will start you off with 8 free spins. During this feature, any wild landing partially on the reels, will automatically be nudged to cover the whole reel. They will then move around the reels just as they do in the free spins. Plus, each wild that fully lands on the reels, whether nudged or not, will add another free spin to the feature.
Also, now the wild can land on all five reels, meaning you could potentially end up with 5 robots on all five reels. Wilds will remain in play for the duration of the free spins, of course.
By the way, five big bots on the five reels will pay out 10x your stake for each payline.
The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) for Big Bot Crew is 96.51%, which is excellent value. But beware, this is a volatile slot and you’ll go many rounds without a win on the reels. When you do manage to nudge two of those wilds onto the reels during the base game, bigger wins become possible and likely.
During the free spins that is even more so the case and seeing three big red robots on the reels can be very exciting. It is possible to win 5,203x your bet, if you are very lucky indeed. But if you don’t budget carefully, you might lose before those big wins make an appearance.
Thankfully, we found the free spins often enough to keep going. That doesn’t mean, however, that they are frequent. It really depends on how lucky you are and if you find yourself on a losing streak, you might want to opt for a more forgiving slot.
