Boaboa casino is an online casino owned and operated by Araxio Development N.V., which in turn belongs to the Tranello Group. Boaboa has opened its virtual doors in 2017, which means it’s one of the youngest online casino properties around.
The casino is licensed in Curacao. What that might mean for its players is something we discuss further in our paragraph about the licensing and security requirements for this casino, though we’ve written about the different gambling jurisdictions elsewhere in more detail as well.
Boaboa is a fresh, young casino that works with loads of the best game developers, meaning they host many of our favourite casinos games. The casino theme seems to be all about the sun, summer and island life, which is refreshing. Their mascot appears to be a penguin wearing sunglasses, which is as fun as it is quirky.
The welcome bonus is quite attractive as well, offering up 100% and up to €500 as well as 200 free spins.
Whilst we go into all the details of the casinos advantages and disadvantages in our exhaustive review, here’s an overview of what we liked about it at first glance:
Software: Microgaming, NetEnt, Evolution Gaming, Betsoft, Quickspin, Yggdrasil Gaming, Amatic Industries, Elk studios, Push Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Habanero, PariPlay, NoLimitCity, Red Tiger Gaming
Support: Live Chat, Phone
Play on: Computer, iPhone, Android
Currency: Euros, Polish zlotys, Russian rubles, Swedish Kronor
E-Wallets: 0-24 h
Credit/Debit Cards: 2-4 d
Bank Transfers: 1-3 d
At the time of writing, the welcome bonus at Boaboa affords new players a 100% match bonus and up to €500 in bonus cash. The minimum deposit required to claim the bonus is €20. Additionally, players claiming the welcome bonus also receive 200 free spins, which will be handed out in increments of 20 spins over 10 days.
Interestingly, players have to contact customer service via live chat or email if they wish to claim the bonus, so it’s not added automatically. This can be considered an advantage, if you’re unsure about claiming to begin with. The wagering requirements are not necessarily very advantageous, either, so you might want to think about it before claiming the bonus.
As it is, the wagering requirements for any deposit bonus is 30x the bonus and the deposit. We would much prefer, if only the bonus amount needed to be wagered and not the deposit as well. Plus, if you attempt to withdraw any money before wagering has been met, all winnings are forfeited, and the bonus is cancelled.
Only slots and ‘other’ games contribute towards completing the wagering requirements. That means casino poker, video poker, roulette, baccarat or blackjack or the live casino games don’t contribute anything at all.
You should also check the bonus terms for slots that contribute only 20% to wagering as well as those contributing 0%. Not all those games are necessarily high RTP slots and we’re not entirely sure what the reason behind excluding Book of Dead for instance is.
Wagering requirements will have to be met within 10 days, which is an awfully short time.
This is an area where the casino really has to receive full marks from us. The games library at Boaboa is very impressive. The casino works with such fantastic and beloved developers as NetEnt, Microgaming, Yggdrasil Gaming, ELK Studios, Pragmatic Play, Quickspin, Play’n GO, NYZ Interactive, Endorphina, Pariplay, Ezugi, Amatic, GameArt, Betsoft, Thunderkick, Push Gaming, Amaya, iSoftBet, RedRake, Ainsworth, Habanero and Rival.
Thus, you get some of the newest and best slots around here: Tiki Tumble, Kaiju, Asgardian Stones, London Hunter, Fat Cat, Fortunes of Asgard, Easter Island, Fat Rabit, Football Superstar, Hugo Goal, Temple of Tut, Planet Fortune and many, many more.
Hundreds upon hundreds of slots guarantee that you won’t get bored at Boaboa anytime soon. But if you look for something else, you will also be pleased about the selection of other games available here.
Naturally, Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat are available here. Roulette even gets its own section, which currently holds 18 different roulette games, including live roulette. But the availability of video poker and casino poker games is what truly impresses us at Boaboa. Especially their selection of video poker games will have fans excited.
Additionally, Keno comes in five versions, Bingo in nine and 24 scratch card games, mostly based on popular slots, are available as well.
New online casinos don’t always also offer a live casino section. That usually depends on what kind of clientele an operator wants to attract, but live casinos are generally a good option to have a more varied offering.
Boaboa casino provides a relatively small live casino which includes nine tables from Evolution Gaming, the leading supplier of live casino games, and a ‘live casino’ from Ezugi, which is rather unusual.
The variation of games offered is quite good. You’ll be able to play Roulette, Baccarat and Blackjack as well a surprising number of Casino Poker games and Dream Catcher.
In a new casino such as this one this is quite enough.
Alas, this is once again an area where we find a casino only licensed in Curacao considerably lacking. We’ve seen this plenty of times with other casinos that only hold a Curacao license, though it is also a regular occurrence in very new casinos: they’re not supplying the biggest progressive jackpots out there. NetEnt and Microgaming jackpots are entirely missing. Indeed, the casino doesn’t even offer a way to filter for jackpot games.
You’ll be able to search according to game developer and there you find Betsoft jackpots such as The Glam Life and The Mega Glam Life.
Additionally, Ozwin’s Jackpots and Holmes and the Stolen Stones from Yggdrasil Gaming are available. But if you’re looking for life-changing wins, you’ll have to choose another casino. Even the big Betsoft jackpots aren’t known to paying out regularly, at least not with the regularity we hear about Microgaming or NetEnt progressive jackpots.
Visit the FAQ section and you’ll find out how to contact customer service. It’s possible to contact them 24/7, though not all support can is provided around the clock. You get a live chat available all the time, but if you wish to make a call, availability is limited, and the number is an international one. The financial department processes requests within 24 hours, but only between 9am and 6pm GMT+3 and not on weekends.
The FAQ section itself is hardly comprehensive, but at least it is there, and you can find some questions answered. Reading the terms and conditions is also important, because you can find further information here.
As you know, we don’t like it when a casino only has one license, especially when that one license is only from Curacao. That doesn’t mean Curacao licenses should be distrusted. They’re one of the oldest, most established gambling jurisdictions out there. But they’re also far away. And licensees are not as strictly controlled as those casinos that have MGA or even UKGC licenses.
Whilst we haven’t found any major complaints against BoaBoa, their single Curacao license does not inspire confidence, because if ever a player does experience problems, they may not be able to find help or support.
Plus, European-facing casinos really should have European gambling licenses.
It almost goes without saying the RTP numbers are not supplied by Boaboa. The casino is still very new, and they won’t have tons of numbers on the payout quotes. They’re still establishing a customer base.
Eventually, however, it will go a long way towards trust and transparency for the casino to release their overall payout quotes. Every casino has those numbers and UKGC license holders are even required to publish them.
Once again lacking in transparency, you won’t be able to find a separate section on payment options. As soon as you have an account and can access the cashier, you’ll be able to see everything you need to see, but not before that.
From the icons on display on the homepage, we know that Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Neteller, paysafecard, Bank Transfer, Multibanco, Boleto, zimpler and other options are available to deposit and withdraw funds at Boaboa.
But we know nothing about transaction times or limits or any possible fees. Checking the terms and conditions, we found the note that the casino doesn’t charge extra for deposits or withdrawals. But you have to go searching for that information. It’s not easily available.
There’s also a clause here that requires you to rollover your deposit 3x before requesting a withdrawal, otherwise the casino may withhold a fee (commission) of 10%.
Finally, the monthly withdrawal limit depends on your player status on the site. The minimum at Bronze level is €10,000 per month. The maximum at Diamond level is €50,000 per month.
The background colour at Boaboa is white as opposed to dark grey or even black, which is often the case in casinos. That already gives the atmosphere a lighter and more open feel. Scroll down to the bottom of each page and you’ll find yourself at a beach with a penguin enjoying the sun. That’s cute and fun.
Plus, Boaboa really sounds like the name of some South Pacific or Caribbean island. Sit back, relax, enjoy. Have a cocktail as well and play some games. That’s what the site seems to say, and it is indeed quite enjoyable. Perhaps it is also a sign that the casino doesn’t take itself too seriously, we’re not sure there. But it the impression you get.
Navigation is easy and intuitive; the layout is modern. You won’t find all the information you might be interested in easily or readily. Sometimes it’s simply not there, as we’ve already noted. But on the whole the casino has been designed in a very user-friendly way.
The desktop page has been built to also easily scale down to the small screen. Indeed, once again we found ourselves more enamoured with a mobile page than with its desktop pendant. You will find all the same links, filter options and navigational tools on the mobile site that you find on the desktop page.
Most of the games are also available via mobile, so you are hardly missing out on anything here either. Even the live casino is completely accessible via mobile. And the pages and games load very quickly, which is always an added bonus.
Aside from their welcome bonus, Boaboa also offers two regular bonuses that you can peruse during the week or on the weekend. You may be able to claim a 40% reload bonus and 40 free spins or even a 60% reload bonus and once again 40 free spins.
Additionally, you will find regular tournaments at Boaboa that you can participate in and that make things a little more exciting. All the details on each tournament can be found on the dedicated page. Usually you’ll be able to earn loyalty points, but cash may also be up for grabs. It’s a cool opportunity to play your favourite games and get something extra on top.
Then there are loyalty points that you earn by simply playing games at Boaboa for real money. Points can be exchanged for real cash at a certain rate, which varies depending on your player standing (Bronze to Diamond).
And then there’s the VIP scheme as well, which comes with such fun levels as Tourist, Explorer, Fisherman, Minister and Diamond. As with all VIP schemes, your advantages include better exchange rates, higher withdrawal limits, additional bonuses and personal account managers, etc.
On the whole, Boaboa really makes an effort to keep players engaged and entertained.
New online casinos are never perfect. They’re fledglings and need to find the footing first. Only time will tell if they manage to gather a player base and will faithfully cater to their players. Boaboa has some things going for it, especially an excellent selection of games, cool promotions, tournaments and offers to earn extra. But they also have things that need improving, including transparency, licensing and the selection of jackpots available. The potential is there and you’re free to check the casino out yourself and make up your own mind. We have found nothing that would make us stop you from doing that.
