Wayne Rooney allegedly lost £500k in two hours at casino

The precise amount the football star lost cannot really be ascertained. Nobody officially handed out any numbers, but several witnesses claimed that Wayne Rooney gambled away thousands with every bet he made at the Manchester 235 Casino not long ago.

Playing Roulette and Blackjack

It’s been reported that Wayne Rooney visited the Manchester 235 at midnight, made his way to the VIP area and started playing Roulette and Blackjack. He drank a few beer, but was apparently more occupied with the tables than with the beer.

Whilst nobody had much to say about his Blackjack play, it has been observed that he mostly bet on Red at the Roulette table and that he also placed bets on long odds numbers. One eyewitness remarked that “the problem with Wayne is he thinks he’s lucky and that he’s always going to win. But the truth is he’s not and he is not half as good at a blackjack or roulette table as he is on the pitch.”

Blowing thousands

Apparently Wayne tried to chase his losses, betting thousands of pounds with every wager. Onlookers are said to have been stunned by the display and the amount of money Rooney blew in a mere two-hour visit at the casino.

It’s no secret that Wayne Rooney earns a lot of money as a footballer, certainly enough to recoup his losses rather quickly, but that’s still not a good reason to be burning through hundreds of thousands in only two hours.

Unhappy wife

In his autobiography Wayne admitted that his wife Coleen was very upset with him once when he gambled away £50,000 early on in his career. She is sure to be rather upset with him over the latest losses. It’s even more upsetting that Wayne went on his little casino visit whilst his wife and sons were away on a trip in Europe.

Wayne is a public figure and easily recognised. This latest stint at the tables was unlikely his first. But does he have a gambling problem or is he simply unlucky and so unconcerned over the money that he at least gives it a try to win something back rather than giving up before it gets too bad?

One would have to ask him, but nobody is likely to do that. It’s also unclear how Coleen actually reacted, because she would have learned about the incident behind closed doors. It certainly wouldn’t have been a happy encounter.

We just hope Wayne gets help, if he really needs it.
