The new live action The Beauty and the Beast movie is about to hit theatres and Yggdrasil Gaming has chosen this opportune moment to release their own Beauty and the Beast slot. The original story is actually from France and was first told in the first half of the 18th century. And it is more or less the original story that this slot is based on, not so much the Disney versions of it.
You won’t find talking teacups or candle sticks in this slot and nobody is bursting into song either. Instead we get the Beauty and the Beast in a before and after version each on the reels. Whilst our beauty is beautiful in both versions, the beast is very beastly indeed.
The other symbols are all beautiful jewels, the wild and a free spins symbol. But other characters make appearances, too. In the three random bonus features that may be triggered throughout the main game. There’s the maid, who swings her duster and leaves 2 to 4 wilds behind. The chef will link the three middle reels together and have them spin as one. And the butler will nudge that one reel that will give you the best chance at a win one position up or down.
The slot really is quite beautiful as well, but that’s to be expected from Yggdrasil. They don’t make ugly slots over there. The intro is gorgeously 3D animated and when the random bonus features make an appearance, their ghostlike apparitions are just as beautifully animated.
At an extra cost you can boost your game a little. Choose the rose for five coins and get two features in the free spins. Choose the bell and get an extra nudge, which will land you the free spins feature more often. This one costs and extra 15 coins. For 30 coins you get a combination of both, a nudge to get you the free spins more often and you’ll start out the free spins with two features.
And the features in the free spins are the same as in the main game, except now they run all at the same time and on each spin. That means you get to choose maid, butler and/or chef. Usually you’ll get to choose only one feature. But if you retrigger the free spins, meaning their get reset to the initial 10 spins, you can choose an additional servant. You can reset the free spins until all three of them are activated, which makes for the best winning opportunities.
The Beauty and the Beast is a gorgeous slot with some great features and if you’re a fan of the tale, you won’t be disappointed. Especially since it’s a little darker in mood and appearance than the Disney version.
